Silverwing trunk removal!?
|
|
|
|
|
Hey every one, this is my first post. I'm happy I found this forum. I just got an 82 Silverwing off of Clist with 44k on the spedo, for $900.
She runs great and is real smooth all the way to 80MPH! I even have room for some flowers in the faring. I love it, it blows my old Rebel out of the county!
The only problem I have is I can not figure out how to remove the trunk to put on a passenger seat! The thing is attached by two bolts that are flush with the trunk floor. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I want to tear off the trunk, throw my old lady on the back at hit the road to Cedar Point, but I don't want to trash the thing.
Thanks for all the help
Miles

Welcome to the forum InfiniteMiles , good luck with the GL.
The trunk is removed by opening the helmet locks on the rear side rail and pushing the levers forward.
There is another thread working now explaining it

Just to add, if the trunk hasn't been off in a long time it may take a lot of pressure/force on the levers. You need to be careful not to pull/push the bike off the side or center stand while releasing the trunk. There usually is a click when the release has taken place.

This comes up every so often, maybe it should be added to the quick reference list?

The trunk/seat removal...
since the profile stuff is already linked to on the quick reference as "New Members on Chopper Charles and Sheps Global forum." maybe it could be renamed to better reflect its other purpose

I've found it is easier if you push downward on the trunk while you push on the latches. Makes them release easier...
