Hi confish86. I am in Mineola and work out of Hewlett so I go through Lynbrook often! How long have you had your bike and how long have you been in PA? Do any customizing?
I just installed 11" sportster shocks today. i lowered the the front forks @ 3/4" the other day and tomorrow I am swapping out the handle bars. I also just painted the radiator cover black. This is a great forum!

That was not my bike pictured. I just made the link in the previous post work for the user. S8mikey is the owner of that bike I think.

The original pipes are double tube. If you use single tube it will "blue", because of the heat. Personally, I like the colour.
I think the Harley riders have a product called "Blue job" or similar for just this purpose.
A lovely 98* degree day in Sth Australia. Man, its warm. Gonna be 102* on Monday Sheesh

Tried to delete it?
I know when using EI the delete option wouldn't work for me. I did delete a double post using firefox I got an "error" message/page deal but the post WAS deleted.

p.s. Your results/experience may vary.

I know they blue b/c of the single wall, but I thought I'd been told that if you get the mixture just right (not too lean or rich), they won't discolor. That being said, I don't think I've seen pics anywhere of a cx with a MAC that wasn't at least somewhat discolored. It is kind of a neat look, but shiny isn't really the idea with my bike :). I'm keeping a little bit of metal showing, but most of the bike is some kind of black. The avatar pic is pretty old. The saddle bags I made are gone as is the luggage carrier and the exhaust wrap has been painted black with grill paint (as has the whole exhaust beyond the wrap including the muffler).
I didn't buy the exhaust. When I bought the bike it had pods / 2in1 / 90/130 re-jet and an 18" '78 wheel in the back... all of which I'm happy about. I'd like to know what a stock cx feels like, but considering the fact that most peoples' two big complaints about the bike are the high rpms on the highway and it's being somewhat sluggish, I think the bike's decked out just right.
I'm putting plastic kitty litter tubs that I've matte blacked on the bike today. Hopefully I can get pics posted here before too long. -nick
BTW - I'm up for a ride out to Cape Flattery. I think the bike might finally be up for a ride like that too. That'd be a big day - Oly to Cape Flattery and back? Just checked it on google maps, it's 200 miles just from Oly to there. Don't want to push the ole gal too hard, she just went 54k :).

Thank you LUCKY! I've read "how to post pics" but it still won't work. I finally got on photobucket (didn't join Firefox) but when I drag & drop the pic into the forum message, the photo replaces this site and I still have the other browser on photobucket? I feel your pain silentwarrior79! Hey Achille, thanks for the comment. The trunk and saddle bags (not shown) came with the bike and i think i am going to hold on to them.

Sorry have not been here for a little (or anyother forum) Work has got me busy & 14 hour days sure does get tiring . I have only had it a couple of months now & now after looking at some of these custom jobs , it makes me think. How do you like the rear shocks ?? i bought from a guy brand new 11inch shocks he put on air adjustable) , his take off mufflers & his stock directionals off his FXR & hope to install them as soon as i finish this 82 Shadow i`m going to work on for this kid that his church is paying me to get road worthy. My mom & brother still live in lynbrook & for my friends they live in Merrick , Freeport , Belmore . I have lived in PA going on 11 years now , (but i still talk like a new yorker )

This site is great and everyone is helpful. Wish I could be as helpful! I really like the 11" sportster shocks (from JC Whitney). They lower the bike a little, where I can get a little more bend in my knees. The chrome shocks also give the bike a great look because the original shocks were a little dull colored. Just needed to swap some bushings from the old set to the new to make it work. Good luck with the bikeshttp://s588.photobucket.com/albums/ss323/die2sk8/?action=view¤t=cx500beach002.jpg

I just have my back up gauges since I gave young my last good set when none of his gauges were working. I just couldn't let him ride away not knowing how fast he was going or at what rpm or temp. Otherwise it would be yours.

some great bikes out there! here are a couple photos of mine, a 1980 custom. some things I have done to it that make it look a bit different: removed the centerstand, changed to a dual headlight, some painting here and there, dropped the gauges down, harley 883 mufflers, lowered front end, and removed the radiator side covers.

Ok now do it right and give us a beady eye up close picture of the mini lights from the front.

Ya the exhaust and headers are coated with a high temp black powder coat and it holds up perfectly fine.

ok, I will try and dig up some photos of the front that show some detail of the lights set up. they are a couple of 100W "off road" type driving lights I got in the bargain bin at the local auto parts store. I removed the shade in one and inverted the lens, so one is more of a spot/projector and one is more of a flood type. I rigged up a switch to turn off one of the lights as needed.
this weekend I am in the middle of putting the Quicksilver fairing back on the bike, along with the halogen "square" style headlight that goes with it.
