I admit......I'm dumb. I have some photos of my bike in photobucket but do not know how to get it to this site. Sorry to be a pain. Can anyone get them? Its under MacmufflerBearing. Thanks. Pictures have a crappy background because the bike is in my shed being worked on. I'll get "Pretty" pictures posted later.

In photobucket when you scroll over the image 4 choices will pop up. Choose IMG code and copy and paste that in.

I'd like to think so! It's color changing paint...it turns blue, orange, red and gold also. I have my family crest on the side covers. Though it would be different. Flames are also on the front fender, my brother-in-law is a painter and hooked me up.MacDonald Clan. Go figure, my first name is Ronald.....no jokes please!

Lucky: You might have better luck with this site? http://www.houseofnames.com/
Yeah they also sell gifts and collectors items, but if you put your family name in the box you should get the coat of arms and history.

I have a "SnagIt" program on my computer that will allow me to print any picture or text that shows up on the monitor. It works great on sites that will not allow you to copy, paste, print etc. I think you can find it online and download it. All you do is put it on your desktop and activate it when you need it by pushing print sceen key on the keyboard. might be worth a try.

Yeah Lucky I never found a freebie either.
I did find a PDF for $18.00.
If and when I get ready to paint, I may have to do that and hanve my nephew reproduce it in vinyl. He's heavily into offroad 4x4's(crawlers) and does vinyl to subsidize his hobby.

Here's one of my rides. 81 cx, sportster solo seat, dyna mufflers, cheap ebay handle bars. The rest is pretty much stock. The bike was given to me and had the usual problems of any bike that has been setting up for a while. I cleaned and rebuilt the carbs, replaced the front master cylinder, and unstuck the clutch.

Ok so this is my first post on these forums, figured I'd just introduce myself since this website seems like it's going to be my 2nd home over this winter. I live in MN and have owned a 1980 CX 500 for almost a year. Bought it completely stock for 400 bucks, ran fine, not much mechanical work needed at all(oil change, some fluids, etc..). Started tearin it apart and choppin and droppin. This is essentially where I am at now..

did a few other things after this pic(grips, license bracket, headlight, few other lil things)
took a vid of it running before I took it out for its last run of the season not too long ago, click here to see it
and as of right now I got it in my kitchen for complete deconstruction

updated pic as of tonight, the 3rd night of deconstruction

Plan on cleaning up the frame, shaving a bunch of unneeded brackets and braces that I won't be using anymore(centerstand, helmet lock, air box base, braces for rear pegs, etc...). Will then be rebuilding the carbs, and rejetting since I will be running straight pipes in dedication to my neighbors(j/k my neighbors are cool!). Have removed the air box as you can see and will be switching to straight filters and will be using the space instead for mounting the battery. Will be fabricating up custom 2 into 1 pipes(cataclisim kinda has the same idea as i got cept not as long). Planning on just purchasing a fender off a boat trailer or something simple for the rear fender. I'm debating whether to go with powder coating the frame, rear fender, and gas tank or painting them. I can get them powder coated for really cheap from a friend that powder coats pedal bikes for a hobby and it's also really tough. Will be using flat black for the frame, and painting the tank and fender flat white with a flat black racing strip going down offset from the center. If any of you can give me good reason to definitely not go with powder coating please let me know, and why. Plan on starting a thread about my winter project when I get around to it this weekend. THANKS!

Another Minnesotan! Welcome, Rick.
Any chance you could get to the Twin Cities for the Third Annual Spring Ride & Barbeque? It will be a Saturday in late May. (I haven't picked a date or a route, yet.)

I definitely plan on having it all together and finished by May, so that could be a very likely possibility. Will have to make sure my back will be up for the ride, which it should be once I put this medical foam in my seat and make brackets for the springs on the back of the seat, since I basically rode all summer with the seat just resting on the frame. Bout the farthest I could make it without turning my back into a pipe was from Duluth to Two Harbors on the scenic route, which is like 30 miles or so each way.
Keep me updated tho!

Yep, side panels are going and pods are going on with electrics relocated under the seat, pods are in the garage jets are in the mail. I'm also going to modify the seat base so the sides come down further and match the frame shape to fill the gap and protect the electrics once they get moved. On top of that the wheels, frame and body work is getting painted along with all the other bits and pieces, carbs will be cleaned up but probably not polished more a brushed look along with the fork legs. So basically a lot to go so at the moment I've stopped for a few weeks before Christmas so I can ride it for a bit and then back on with it after Christmas
Cheers Steve

Hi from Australia.
Picked this '83 CX500 up last week. Getting
it registered next week and I will be giving it a Cafe style make over
in January. Pretty sure I have a linkage system worked out for the gear
shifter which will allow me to mount some rear sets back where my pipes
are mounted. This is where the passenger pegs would have been
mounted????

Rone and Steve F's bikes have been an inspiration.

Tel,
Post some other pics of this bike. I'm guessing this is "Stumpy"?
Did you do the work? I’m interested in the forward foot controls and rear fender.
Did you do anything else to the bike?

Hi Jerry, yes she is Stumpy and I did it myself from spares that I've had a while. Its a cut down GL650 frame and running gear, fitted a CX500 Custom engine. The rear mudguard, silencers and handlebars came from an old Triumph chop from years ago. Its got Harley Sportster clocks and headlamp and the forward controls came originally from Germany. Heres a few more pics. Merry Christmas. Cheers Tel

Mark,
Nice ride. Look for a set of highway pegs. i think you'll like the riding position when cruzing. You have a nice crash bar that should work well for this.

Jerry - I've got a set of those clamp on ones coming in on Tuesday along with some new grips. Was reading what some people were saying and once I find a good position for those pegs I may use some Loctite so they don't slip around at all.
