Currious, so I'll ask of the bobber crowd.

How much weight did you shed when you did your conversion?

If you take about 100 lbs off a 500 model, you can get close the same lb/hp ratio as the comprable 650 model. If so, I was curious if you were then able to accelerate much faster to 60 then about 6 sec (for 500 models) vs. 4.9 sec for 650 models.

I did notice a little difference but most of what I took off was plastic, and I opted for longer square fenders rather than the short ones, I feel like it would be hard to take off a hundred pounds worth. Most of the weight I took off what in the exhaust pipes.

Dang - mine looks pretty ratty compared to the above bike! Updates - digital dash (TrailTech), superbike bars, solo seat, cut 8" off the back of the frame, dual fixed front headlights

Plan for this winter (if I'm brave enough) Convert to mono-shock from Honda F4i, remove everything from the main vertical tube back. Suspend seat off the main tube.

James, I see for an exhaust all you have is the headers.  I imagine that is incredibly loud, lol, any chance you could upload a vid of it running?!?

James - did you have to do any welding to mount that seat, or was it a bolt-on? Would love to put one like that on my  bike, but not sure how...

haha thanks for posting that, I know now that I won't be making my exhaust straight piped like that.  no offense, sound is all opinion based.  i wonder does anyone have a 2 to 1 straight exhaust where the final pipe is bigger then the headers?  that's what I plan on going for

I had mine straight piped and it was too loud. now all I have on is the H chamber and it is plently loud and has a great sound. To be honest your bike sounds like crap with just headers. It reminds me of when a highschool kid cuts the muffler off his Civic so he will sound cooler in the parking lot at school. Sorry if that was to mean.

Doward,

I have a set of Dyna mufflers that are going on this spring. I'm wondering if you got the mounts straighted out yet.

I've dry-fit mine, but haven't fabbed anything for mounts yet.

Not yet, I'm afraid.  My father just gave me a set of leather saddlebags, so I'm going to build a bracket to hold them off the exhaust, and use that same bracket to hold the mufflers in place (as well as the passenger pegs)

Mine is in the paint and assembly process. After hardtailing it she sits 8 inches lower. I think I shaved over 100lbs. from mine. My bike is a 650. In mock up it felt real light, like riding a motor on wheels. Can't wait to finish. Trailer fender, hard tail, satin paint, loud pipes, and everything but the essentials thrown in the trash, now that's what makes a bike.
