Here's my mish mash....
Reply Quote

I have a mish mash of 79CX500 and 81 GL500I parts....I know some of you have inquired about some parts and I apologize if I have not got back to you yet, but as you may see from the pics I have some organizing to do, and I honestly don't know exactly all that is there yet....other than the things I know I have seen. If you have inquired bear with me, I'm workin on it   To the ones that inquired about the rear cowl, I had a bit of an issue with my son looking for something and deciding that they would be a good place to step on.....so I no longer am able to sell them, unless you don't mind a crack in it.....little bugger to young to realize that they aren't that easy to find. Ah well forgive and forget

I suppose the Cx500, but it would be going on a D, after stripping and painting, do you by chance know if it would fit onto a D bike?

Something clever generally goes here. Dang.

This is a quote from the "parts interchange list" in the general discussion forum:
The Custom models have a smaller cruiser-style fuel tank, which is secured by bolts in the front, while the tank for the A model and Deluxe sit on rubber bushings on steel posts welded to either side of the frame.

I’ve been informed that you can adapt a Deluxe tank to a Custom by inserting short bolts or studs into the frame holes and putting the rubber bushings over them. Presumably you can fit a Custom tank to a Deluxe by cutting off the posts and drilling the frame.

So it is possible, just depends if you would like to do it or not....let me know.
Thanks
Kirk

It will fit but it will be two inches short and probably not look the best unless you customize the seat.

This is a bad picture of a rat bike I was building. It was a cx d with a cx c tank on it. Shows the gap.

How much for the stator for the 79 custom? It's one of the only things I need for mine...My bike runs great for about 30 miles then when the battery dies the bike dies if I let it  idle and I'm stranded...Checked the 3 yellow wires at the voltage regulator and all three of them are shorted to ground...yay...

What about a set of carbs though? Do you have one of those available?

I will check it and get back to you as to what the readings are...see if it's good or not....if it reads good, how does $15 sound? I don't want to charge to much for something like that only because you never know how much life it may have left in it. But if it checks good, it's your if you like, if it doesn't...off to the dump it goes. Will let you know by the weekend.

Thanks

Kirk

I do, I never heard back from the other fella, it's an odd ball shape so it has some pretty hardy shipping measurements....they don't go by odd ball shape, they use the size of box it would have to fit in......but can give you shipping, hopefully by the weekend.

Thanks

Got that, but shipping to Australia is expensive....got price for another member and it seemed it was pretty much a minimum of $40 for even a small small parcel. But can get you a price if your still interested.
