NH113PA Pearl altair white.
CXTURBOBOOST wrote: | | It is very hard to match the 500T paint. The
reason for this is because the paint fades/yellowes with time. When you
try to match it, usually it sticks out like a sore thumb. Most people
end up repainting pieces. Some have
used air brushing to touch up areas. Hope I've helped. Any major paint
company should be able to take the paint codes and mix you some paint.
The 500T paint however is a three step process. Base, mid, clear.
Everything on the 500T was the "best" in its day. It was a work of art! ...

Is this yellowing different than the gold tint that's in the paint?

I've heard people mention this yellowing before. Is it in the clear coat? Base coat? Does it happen in areas not exposed to the sun?
I've seen dozens pass through ebay but never noticed any yellowing other than the natural gold tint. Of course those are just photos and I've only seen one other CXT in person and that was passing by in the oncoming lane.

The white on a CX500T and a 650T are (as mentioned) different. The 650 is a more pure white. It doesn't have the gold pearl overcoat. I've compared my own 500 to my friend's 650 and the 650 looks more silver-pearl-like. You should be able to match either really close, though. I found a white at an auto body paint store to redo my 500 from an Acura color chip. Lots of modern cars have a pearl white paint that's really close..Acura, Cadillac, Lincoln, BMW, Mercedes, Infinity, Lexus and more. I found one then sprayed a couple of light coats of gold pearl over the white, followed by clear coats, and it looks great. I've painted half a dozen Turbos. It's not a paint job for the faint of heart, but I'm always willing to do another.

I don't want to paint the whole bike just touch up some areas, does anyone have a car color that's close enough for a touch-up job.

I'd buy a small bottle of touch up paint for an older Cadillac Escalade and see how it matches.. The pear white/slight gold tint color looks similar and it may be a passable match for tiny rock chips. After close to 30 years of aging, I doubt even the exact formula from Honda would look good for a larger area repair.

Hallo
Nearby to me there is a company producing repairpaint for Honda motobikes in germany. Take a look at www.motorradlack.de, in the searchbox left upper corner type in NH-113 P-A for the 500T then you got a result. Colored field means green= Cans for paint with aircompressor, yellow means spraycan, light red = touchup-paintstick. If you like i´ll call them and ask if they ship to US, Price etc. etc. Most dealers buy the paint there if they have to do repair and need the original Honda color. Anyway , if the color of your bike is faded out or getting darker after more than 25 years you´ll see a difference with new paint, na matter which brand you use. They always tell also to use their clear coat cause they don´t know how other would work with their paint. Dan Topping should be a nice resource in US also, perhabs a little bit easier 4y to get the paint from him. So my offer to ask them still holds.
Gruss
Kai

I was driving around yesterday and saw a sign "expert color matching". I took a side cover in today, I wondered if this was a computerized deal like Home Depot for house paint, but this is the guy mixing up the paint to match by eye. I bought about a pint of paint and a bottle of the candy material. It cost me $60 which is a bargain compared to Colorite. He matched the color really well, I was a bit dubious at first. I've already done a couple of small touch ups with an air brush. After I fix the damage to the fairing I'll spray that area also.
Received new dayglow red stripes from BD Designs today. Looking forward to putting them on.
