Here it is folks, plan accordingly.
Hello Phil,
The following reservation at Zeagers Mountain View Camp In Lewisburg, PA is documented.
August 19-23
Phil Gilbert and Honda Transverse Twins Association
I am working on shareholders to add additional bunk beds. The basement may be excellent sleeping quarters in the Summer and I will work on options, as the walls and floor are being waterproofed.

Phil,
Are the snakes that crawl into bed with you in the basement yours to keep???
I will be there health permitting. I am looking forward to seeing everyone and chomping at the bit to put some miles on next summer!

I wish they would get rid of the overhead door and put a 48" door and a couple windows in it's place. Maybe I'll talk with them about that rather than waste words here. ;-)

Get there Thursday and get a bed on the first or second floor and there are no worries.
If you have good zipper tent there isn't anything to worry about. I don't recommend a button door tent like my very first tent ...
There aren't that many snakes around there, but there are some.

In the event that the snake population is low BYOS(Bring Your Own Snake) will be implemented. I just saw one for free on craigslist if we're down a snake i can pick it up.

David, It is my understanding there is a large colony of snakes living in the attic, they live off the bat population. Hopefully the weight of the guano will not bring down the ceiling while we are there. Can you imagine, your snoring bringing down the ceiling, being covered in bat crap and having snakes all over the place at the same time. Dave and I sleep downstairs, much cooler.

Not to worry Mike. The only snakes we ever saw, we had to go looking for. Just friendly banter.

Yeah, Rich, & I was pulling for the snake, he was just too scared of you to pull it off!
Besides, from your description of the snake that must be it in the picture! Gene

Hey, quit worrying about snakes. There are only 100 species of snake in PA. Only two are poisonous. The other 98 swallow you whole. Just leave the ones alone that are rattling or have a copper color along with a trianglar shaped head. The snakes with more oblong heads are harmless but may crap on your hand if you pick them up.

Hi,
Could someone fill me in a little about the HTTA & this get together? Their website is kind of sparse since it is being remodled.
Thanks,

"Could someone fill me in a little about the HTTA & this get together"

Doug,
The HTTA stands for Honda Transverse Twins Association. An adhoc "organization" that grew from this web site. There are no meetings, dues or membership rules. Anybody that rides (or wishes they rode) a CX or GL 500 or 650 can claim membership.
The weekend on Aug 19-23 in PA is the oldest get together of this "organization". PWG (Phil) started this get together and I believe he first coined the HTTA term. I haven't had the pleasure of being there yet but I understand it is in dorm style rooms at a hunting camp. When the dorm rooms fill up, people pitch tents.
But, where ever any 2 or more "members" get together, that meeting can be called an HTTA ride. Hope you can make one.

We also ride to various places on Friday and Saturday. We go rain or shine, hail or thunder. Since I live 10 miles (as the crow flies) from the camp, I usually point the way. I know all the roads and a few of the cops.

"An adhoc "organization" that grew from this web site." NO,NO,NO, You got that wrong. How many times do I have to tell it. HTTA has been around for three years longer than this web sight. It's the other way around. This web site replaced the one we started with due to the lack of interest of the sysop.
Gene and Phil started the Amish rally Not the HTTA
Class Dismissed.

Are the rooms singles or doubles. It's rare for either my wife or I to go away for a weekend without the other. As for a tent, I'm 58 & she is 61 so we stopped tenting a decade ago.
This brings up another question, whats the age range?
Also do you drink decent beer or Budweiser? :-) (Let the flames begin)

Doug, as someone said there are several rooms upstairs & down. As I recall a portion of downstairs can be closed off to give privacy to a couple. This has happened a couple of times in the past. As far as the age range is concerned, there's not one, we are all young at heart! Having said that Dave McCall, from Slippery Rock has been our oldest person and we have had riders in their 20s. The love of these old bikes seems to be universal. Just keep in mind that accomodations are on a first come, first serve basis. Some folks are there only 1 night, some don't spend the night & some like Phil & I stay as long as we can. Gene

Doug, I'm not sure the room thing was explained well enough. There are three "bedrooms", each with four or five to a dozen or more beds, and a few privacy curtains are there, but mostly not. Then there is the living room, with couches, and a few beds tucked away in the kitchen downstairs. There is no privacy, it even has a gang shower (the only shower) in the basement, although certainly that can be scheduled for "women only" at certain times. The two bathrooms have two doors each. I'll be chastised for making it sound male chauvinist, but that's the way the accomodations really are, it was apparently built as a hunting camp, although the largest I have ever seen. There have been a few women who have attended, but invariably (perhaps to the women's credit), eventually the men come without them when they come next. I think it's a great gathering, but I also know my wife would not agree. Really, if a couple were coming, a tent would probably provide the greatest matrimonial harmony. I'm 58, btw. We vary from 20 something to old geezers who fall asleep by 9:00 PM. And all political colors, the bikes are our common bond. And it is the largest CX/GL Rally in North America!

Doug,
For the record.
My G/F Chris came with me on my 1st Amish rally. (her qoute: "you only know these people from the internet !!!!!")
She/we were made more than welcome and really enjoyed our/my initial weekend.
We were able to use a bedroom on the 1st floor which was private and closed off by a curtain.
Whenever Chris took a shower, the rest of the folks were informed and there was never the slightest issue.
All the guys are "true" gentlemen and as long as your wife can put up with "CX this and GL that" you will both have a good time ;-)
Oh and i've also been told by some of the members, that Chris only came to the Amish to act as my translater !!!!!!!!
Just my 2 cents worth........Keith.........

Phil,
Did you get the email about checking out the ski lodge (Ski Sawmill)? It would be near one of the northern routes of the rides.
