A classic article on the CX500 Turbo:

It was interesting reading, and the pictures were even moreso.
Apparently, Moonstone silver metallic was not the original paint scheme.

I must be turning into the Brake guy...
In any case, I noticed that "pre-production" bike articles like this one depict the CX500T with front CB900/GL1100 styled brake discs.
The 82 models models have a different style disc. As near as I can tell, no other Hondal model used the 82 style disc,.
This is how I tell if I'm looking at a pre 82 model.

I wish they would have kept the dual headlights, recessed turn signals and all digital gauges.
I read somewhere that the 500Ts sent to Africa had the bronze color to it similar to the prototype. I haven't been able to turn up anything on searches though.

I don't know, I really like the single headlight look, and while I don't like the location of the present turn signals, I think the signal location on the prototype looks more like an afterthought.
And how the hell does that fairing come off?

If you don't like the material that the 500T front discs are made of, then other 270mm discs are available with 25mm offset and 5mm thickness. They are a one piece pressed disc, and are on GL1100s, some CB900s, CX650ED and CX500EC - plus a few more Hondas too, I'd guess
