An airconditioner for your bike trips, No, really!

I picked this info up from a regular email I get about new stuff. Thought it might be interesting, it would have helped me make the Amish last year!
Article Summary Yes, a motorcycle air conditioner. As you can see in the picture, though, it’s not as dumb as it sounds. In fact, it’s pretty clever. Haven’t you ever watched bikers riding around in the summer heat wearing full leathers, and wondered how they can stand it? They can’t. They’re boiling to death in there. Some opt to wear shorts and T-shirts instead, but from a safety standpoint... it’s not a sensible alternative, let’s put it that way. What is sensible is a process that pumps cooled air into a vest that the rider wears under their jacket. And that’s just what the EntroSys Motorcycle Air Conditioning system is.

Now for the pictures!

It is not on the market yet, the inventor is still looking for investors! Anybody got any free bucks? Gene

I hear they're also making one so you don't have to make pit stops. #2 is taking even longer and #1 keeps developing leaks.

I want one! I'm absolutely miserable in the summer and never wear enough gear.
And when I'm in one of those states that don't require helmets mine comes off!
I know its stupid but its better than passing out from heat exhaustion!
They aught to be able to make a helmet with vents that work. Power vents would be good.

They do have helmets with vents that work but it's a money thing. Spend some money = get a great helmet. Spend a little bit of money and everything is so so.
I thought Dr Neo said his new helmet had 7-9 vents in it. Wonder if it's listed on his website.

Strangely enough, a "do-rag" on your head keeps your head cooler inside a helmet. When it's really hot you can soak it down. Also, why does anyone buy a black helmet when black=hot?
Jacket wise there are some mesh models with armor that are quite cool. Also, you can soak your tee-shirt underneath which will keep you cool for a long time.

Wayne, in all my years of riding I have only had 1 black helmet and that was one too much! My current helmet, which is needing replacement, is white and I added red stickers trying to get close to the STs color. I also have a mesh, armored jacket, black was the only color I could get. I have a couple of do-rags and they help but I have them to keep the sweat off the helmet lining as much as possible. They also keep your curls from getting messed up, helmet hair, I think they call it. The a/c unit would really help during low speed city riding, probably you could turn it off out on the highway. My new leather jacket which is a fieldsheer outlaw jacket has 2 vents in the arms and two vents in the back for air flow. I seem to think Melody's Scorpion jacket has a few more vents. Like said there are mesh models so you don't have to stick with one jacket for all of your riding. Most of the time the mesh air jackets are a bit cheaper although they look more sports bike than cruiser but if you want to keep cool it doesn't matter what you look like.
I also agree with the black helmet but I'm not trading my in for anything. The assumable standard art factor is that white is a reflective color only absorbing 12% of the light/heat shining on it and reflecting 88% away from it. And black is of course the opposite absorbing 88% and reflecting away 12%. I don't totally buy the percentages but Black will be hotter.

BTW, I forgot to mention that the full write up on the a/c unit indicates that it can also be used as a heater, just by flipping a switch! Gene

I have had real good luck with a low-tech, $20 evaporative cooling vest. Zero moving parts, weighs just a few ounces when not in use and a just a few pounds when water-soaked and in use.
I went through a section of Idaho and saw a bank thermometer sign that said the temp was 107 degrees F. I was reasonably cool when in motion. I was looking for someone to take my picture by the sign but everyone in the town was inside, huddled by their airconditioners!
