Where have all the porta johns gone?

Oh wait it's a telephone booth. Same question. Where the hell have these things gone. A few years ago in Michigan I only knew of one in Three Rivers and one Bruse's Crossing. Do you guys have phone booths?
This ones in downtown Milwaukee but I didn't check to see if it worked.

Ok so I'll ask another question with my question since I know we have some older people in here. When did you get your first landline and cellphone.
For me I was about 8 before my parents got a telephone. That was in 88-89. I remember driving down to the nearest road side hotel to use the pay phone twice a week or so to talk to my grandma and grandpa. That same year the same 3 mile road from our place to the phone was paved. My parents still cant have cable because they won't run the lines that far out of town so the new antenna box problem forced them to get satellite.
When I got my first cell phone they made it a requirement to have a land line or no phone. That was in 2002 I think.

Even growing up on the farm in Iowa we always had a phone. Of course it was a party line which meant we could pick up and listen to our neighbor's conversations.
I got my first cellular phone a long time ago, I'm thinking at least 15 years ago. Without it I always had to take time from the job site to find a payphone to call the office or a sub-contractor. That made a cellular a necessity. It was a big one in a bag the size of a shoe box.

Don, I have been able to verify some of my earliest memories back to 1941-2. We had a land line them and it was only a 2 party line, big stuff in those days! Flash forward to the 1980s and I had a brick of a phone (from IBM, no less). It worked, but I soon gave it up. My first cell phones in the modern sense came in the early 90s and yes you had to have a land line. This restriction is now a thing of the past. Gene
PS: Starting in the 70s in the Atlanta area I was able to make phone calls from my car via a land line tied into a ham radio repeater and activated by a touch-tone mike from my transmitter. My other hobby, since 1951 is Amateur radio. I currently hold an Advanced class license (WA4OAU) and was known on the Atlanta repeaters as "Ole An Ugly!

We always had a phone, but we were the last house of the kids I knew to get any type of cable television. I didn't get a cell phone until a few years after I graduated college. Maybe around 99 or 2000? That's probably around the same time I created my first email address, and also the first time I got a computer. I actually remember the first time I ever saw a computer was 5th grade, we had one for the whole elementary school.
