Daytona
Reply Quote

Attended the bike rally in Daytona today, am going again tomorrow. I have lived twenty miles from Daytona for the last 15 years and have never attended. All I have to say is that there are alot of bikes. Yes, most are Harleys but there was a large accounting of BMWs and GoldWings. There were however no CX500s. Nope, none. Tomorrow I am going again and will take a detailed photo essay and post it on Photobucket for your viewing pleasure. As I said there are some interesting things going on there. I won't bore you with Harley's because we all know one Harley is like ths next. Well, let me quantify that. I took a Harley XR1200 for a ride and it was F**KING GREAT. Best motorcycle I have ever ridden. It dose'nt sell to well over here but I hear that there is a waiting list in Europe and I can understand why. A bike like that is lost on the average Harley rider. It's the kind of bike that you keep in reserve in, ahhhh, the mountains of Colorado, or anywhere their are serpentine roads. It' as skinny as a squashed beer can, it has top shelf suspension and brakes and it has a light flywheel 1200cc engine with dual downdraft throttle bodies and 110 HP. I snicked it into first and kind of let the clutch out, banged second and the front wheel went right up to the sky. You could hear me howling with laughter a mile away. What a ride. That's it for now.

Rick he has to do it because all of his friends ride more expensive bikes. Personally if someone gave it to me I would still have to rework the rear seat/fender area more to my liking.

Almost everyone I know that has a bike has a Harley...I mean EVERYONE. Lots of my Facebook friends ride Harleys.

Funny part is although I don't know what their incomes are I do know mine is about 4 times the national average and I STILL won't EVER spend a dime on a Harley no matter WHAT anyone thinks of me.....why WASTE money ???

One thing I AM for sure of is that about half of them probably really can't afford whatever their payments are that they are trying to make just TO FIT IN WITH THE CROWD !!

(No I'm not trying to impress anyone by my comment about income...I was just trying to make a point....I have 6 kids so even though I make more I really don't HAVE anymore than anyone else...LOL)

Ok so first question. What is the national average? And is it by individual or family?

And back to the quote. I'm sure it's a lot more than half. Milwaukee is or has turned into repo central with the economy and Harley killing Buell and then laying off several hundred permanently.

According to Wiki answers:

According to the US Census Bureau in 2005:

The median TOTAL HOUSEHOLD income was roughly $46,000.

The median annual earnings for someone in the labor force age 25 or older were $32,000.

Now that I think about it you're probably right.....

In my business lately I've seen LOTS AND LOTS of lawsuits where "Harley Davidson Credit" was suing someone after a REPO !

Well no Harley for me since my earnings and my girlfriends don't even add up to the wage of a person over 25.
Come summer I guess you will just see me riding the crap out of my honda with Larry supertank.

That rear seat would just have to go. You ride this bike solo.
