Smile [:)] I did a wheelie!!!

Coming back from my Saturday ride I felt the urge to open her up. When I hit second gear the front end came up and I was on one wheel for about 30 feet. A very fast 30 feet. That was cool. First time that's happened.

Score: One black burn out mark
           One wheelie.

I love my bike.

Been there, done that, not doing it again. Scared the crap out of me as the bike started to lean sideways. I put it down and said now I know the bike can do it so i'm done.

Last summer in the motorcycle course, I was riding a rather underpowered (it felt more underpowered than my 150cc scooter) duo-sport the first and second day.  I had to lay into the throttle to get it to move.  I got used to it pretty quickly and was fine with it.  On day three, I grabbed a different duo-sport (smaller frame, larger engine), hit the throttle and released the clutch similar to how I was riding the other one, and accidentally did a wheelie first thing that day in that class.  Fortunately the instructors weren't watching, or if they did, they didn't say anything.  Just about made me crap myself though.  That's the first wheelie I've ever done, and I plan to make that my last.

I wish my clutch would hold tight enough to even attempt a wheelie.  LOL

Waaaay back in ’79 or so while showing off for some friends (hey, I was 17), I was doing wheelies on my new CX standard, by rolling slow in first, having my weight shifted a little rearward on the seat, and then hitting it pretty quick and hard I could get the front end to come right up.  On about the 5th or 6th one I hit the throttle hard, the front end came up, and the engine went “clank-clank-clank-clank-clank,,,,,” til I shut it off.   I had to dig into it to find I had snapped a cam chain guide right in half.  The bike was new enough that it was supposed to have the updated parts, but I broke 'em anyway.  After that, no more first gear rolling wheelies for me!
