Need to buy a small bit of hardware
|

We hit the 50's today so I rolled the old girl out to fire it up and make sure the battery is charged. Well I noticed a missing screw that must have shaken loose on the last ride.
I need a couple of the screws and washers that hold the chrome trim heat shield over the exhaust h box. There are two that hold it on and they are round head, probably a M6. There are also two small fiber washers and one metal washer. Before I buy an off the shelf screw and make it work I was hoping someone had a parts bike. I would like to grab two so I have another spare. If you need to sell the heat shield along with it I can buy that as long as the hardware is included.
Please PM me if you have one.
This is the part in question by the way.

They are M6 and would be cheaper than postage just to go down to the local hardware store and get some. I see that they as a set are unavailable through honda. Just get some short ones and then the next size up so you can get it right.
Probably 20 cents a bolt.

Yeah I can get something close but would like the original fiber disk retaining washers as well. I am stopping by fastenal on the way home today to get something but I will have to see if they have anything close the the fiber disk washers. There is one other non original bolt on my bike and I like to keep it as close to factory as I can... well for now anyway.

I've lost 2 of those screws, one on each side. Go figure. As a temporary fix, I instead purchased 2 hose clamps, one for each side, and have the chromed tin attached tightly to the exhaust to prevent either vibration rattle, or loss if either one lost both of it's screws. Fixing these should be a cheap springtime project. I should do it soon because the hose clamps are cheesy looking.

Well I guess when a guy wants a stock screw he gets a stock screw.
When I checked bikebandit didn't have them along with www.cyclepartswarehouse.com so go figure.

I grabbed some stainless bolts and fiber washers at the hardware store to get the shield put back on for now. If I happen to run across some stock hardware I might grab them just so it all matches.
