I took the rear cover off to check the oil seal and I found a pitted camshaft end where the seal seats. So does anyone have a good cam for sale?

I have never seen a sleeve advertised for that, I suppose you could have one made and get a different ID seal. Are you sure the actual area were the seal runs is pitted? That would be the last 1/4" of the visible shaft. The area under the mech seal usually has some pitting, but this doesn't affect the operation of the mech seal.

I don't think there is an attachment type of posting for choppercharles.com. The photos will have to be hosted somewhere, like snapfish, photobucket, imagenerd, or some photo site. Then, [.IMG] (minus the .) and the link (with no spaces) and the [/IMG.] (again, don't put a . in).
for example, [ IMG]www.photobucket.com/82314.jpg[/IMG] should post a theoretical photo. Using Firefox browser (not IE) should work best.
Hope I'm answering the right question.
Also, I noticed a worn "ring" around the camshaft of my 650 where the oil seal sat, and I didn't think too much of it (doesn't mean it's not a problem, though ;-) )
Of course, I looked at my broken original camshaft, and it had a slight groove around the oil seal area, but I also noticed worn areas closer to the mech seal area of the shaft (thinner part, to the right of the oil seal groove), it looked relatively chewed up (1 mm deep gnaw-marks, almost). But yeah, I don't think that should affect much, maybe slight shaft balance? Then again, the strength of angular shaft is in the outer area of the shaft, maybe it could be deposition welded back to shape?
My 1st replacement camshaft (slightly bent at the impeller shaft area), showing ring groove for oil seal.

That's how mine is with a little groove in it and some pitting on both sides of it
