Okay, I've come out of hiding now that riding season is becoming a reality in Chicago. My wood working and instrument repair hobbies took up most of my time and interest over the winter, so the motorcycle interest went into limbo.
Anyhow, before I went into my hibernation, I was talking about turning my GL500i into a naked GL500. I started to look on eBay, but that site isn't any more fun with people doing that sniper crap. Anyhow, I was just wondering if anyone with a naked GL500 would like to swap their parts with my GL500i parts. All the parts are there and in good condition, with the exception of the scrapes on the black rubber part of the fairing and the scrapes on the chrome guard around the cases. Other than that, it's all good. The would be coming off of the bike in my avitar. If nobody is interested, I'm just going to go all aftermarket parts and sell my interstate parts on this board.
Oh, and this bike does have the trunk extender, and I haven't decided yet whether or not I'm keeping it. I like having a two-seater with a trunk, but we'll see how I feel
If anyone is interested, please e-mail me directly at dhoenisch at tresslerllp dot com. I will be more responsive with that than I will with this board all the time since during work, I can't always check this board.
Thanks all, Dan

Dan, I'd like a shot at your Interstate mirrors if it comes to selling it piece meal. My right one was damaged by a PO in a tip over, and doesn't adjust or hold it's position properly.
Switching to naked is really easy to do with pretty much any UJM headlight/bucket and turn signals. Only GL stuff you really need is the shiny radiator shroud with the reflectors, and CX ones work.
I did the task last summer, headlight and bucket with universal mounts totalled about $70, and $15 each for the signals:

Looks like I'll be making a swap with a local member of this site. Thanks.

Abes, the Interstate fairing mirrors can be easily repaired/tightened if they have become loose and even if the adjusting screw has stripped out.

If your loose mirror is a factory original then it is worth repairing as they are generally superior to the aftermarket mirrors.

Thanks. I was looking at them yesterday, my right and left mirror are different. The right one seems to have a bigger base on it. I would imagine they should be symetrical???
