I live in st john in about 30 miles south of chicago and I need someone to clean and rebuild carbs set lifters check timing. I dont want to take it to a dealer as it would cost too much. Yeah you probably want to take you carbs off and send them to Larry. Everything else even the most unskilled person should be able to do some of it.

Believe me, firefighter......what Larry did was give my 82cx a whole new life blood...the thing will take me a long time to get used to....the immediate response, the smoothness, the full range with no hesitations, the wide open OMG hang on!!!.......and not to mention the sheer beauty of 28 yr. old works of art. The price is well worth the results, and as was said, may just solve/make other issues seem insignificant (which they should not be taken to be). Took about a week, sent them on a Thurs, and got them back next Wed. YMMV. As to the other things, I too was fortunate to find a local CX'er able to come by and do some wrenching for me, as my skills/abilities are limited. Hope you can find such a new friend in your area. Good Luck to ya.

Larry quoted me $250.00 for a pair of GL650 carbs six months ago. Still can't afford it, but more than likely worth every penny

Did that $250.00 include Randakk rebuild kit and new jets, or just a cleaning?

Hi guys. With all the rebuilds I do every rubber part is replaced new. I use the stock jets and emulsion tubes even if I have to drill one of them out. The full Randakk kits are good. I have built 5 sets using his kits when the customer sent it with their carbs. Their kits include the same parts that you can buy online except for his bowl gaskets and the fuel O-rings. The ones he uses are thicker than the stock oem parts. I use the Viton O-rings also that are thicker. I order mine in bulk as well. They seal much better and will hold up much longer than stock as well as sealing better. If you order the full K&L kit the fuel needle valve should not be used on the 80 and up models. The rubber tip in them are only placed it the bodies tip. They can be pulled off with no effort. As time goes by they will shrink slightly and allow the tip to fall out and stop or slow the fuel into the bowl. Not only that but most of the valves are too long. That will make the float level to low since the plastic floats are not adjustable. The only carbs I will use these in (if I have to) is the early 78-79 carbs with the black adjustable floats. And I use a dab of JB Weld under the rubber tip to ensure they will never fall out. Use the stock fuel needles if you have a good set. They are much higher quality.
Bottom line is that what ever a set of carbs need I repair or replace it. Even if it's a mechanical part like a throttle plate or part of the linkage. My only problem is that I have had to replace many parts over the years and the spares are getting low. If anyone has old or broken carb sets sitting around I'm sure I could use some of the parts off them if your willing to part with them.
Thanks for the compliments and interest from everyone.
Larry
