By great condition do you want "show quality"?
Also, if you don't mind me asking, how much are you looking to spend?

Hi Martin,
No "show quality" isn't what I was thinking. Looking for a body with no or minimal damage and I want it to be reliable. I don't work on bikes at all and I don't want the repair shop to be its home away from home.
Looking to spend 2.5k - 3.5k.

I was just thinking... I am 5'5", wondering if I am going to be on my tip-toes.

Thank you,
Gregg (female) :-)

I'm 5'7" with a 30" inseam and can plant my feet pretty good on the CXTs.  Unless you have long legs, you'll be on your tip-toes and these bikes are a bit top heavy when not moving.  Lowering the suspension air pressure can help a little but you'll get a mushy ride.  Another alternative to is buy a used seat that needs to be recovered for a reasonable price.  Have the foam shaved down a few inches and then a new cover put on.

Since you don't work on bikes you're going to want to find a QUALIFIED mechanic to take it on when things go wrong.  These are some of the most technologically advanced bikes ever made.  Back in the day, dealers had special techs to work on them.  There are also a lot of independent shops that will agree to work on them but change their minds when they see whats under the skin.  Or worse yet they try to fix it and end up making more problems.

There's a nice one on ebay right now but it's already at $4000.  Keep an eye on ebay and use one of the Craigslist global search sites.  Be prepared to travel.

The one in Texas for $3K "buy it now" looks really nice as well.

Cool license plate as well, "CX500T"
It does say Salvage title though, I wonder what that's all about?

yes, you posted the link to this ended auction in sf_rider's other thread, and they replied this afternoon thanking you and also stating that they decided that the 500t isn't the bike for them. Just fyi

They also changed their first post in both threads to reflect this decision as well.

sf_rider, have you considered a non turbo cx/gl model instead?

I know. But they're not the only one reading this thread. And though the auction ended, the seller still has the bike and wants to sell it. If someone was interested they could contact him and ask what his reserve was and maybe buy the sweet bike!

I recognize that profile and pattern, those are... Michelin Macadam's.
No idea how they perform from personal experience, but most reviews are favorable.
Aggressive profile.  I guess it boils down to the sticky, which i always test live with a thumbnail before I buy.

A fellow forum member did and he emailed some information because he knew I was looking for a GL650.  I didn't think I should divulge the information without his permission. I figured folks could contact the seller directly if they were interested and get it from the horse's mouth, so to speak. Sorry to be so cryptic.

No problem, thanks for clarifying, though I am confused about the whole GL650 CX500T connection.  Someone knew you were looking for a GL650 but emailed you information about a 500 Turbo?  Guess you stayed focused on the GL650 though...
