Picked up another CX today, a '79 US import. Pretty rusty but low mileage, probably be a breaker. I'll list the parts that are for sale here before putting anything on Ebay. I'll be keeping a lot of the obvious stuff to keep my trike running, of course!

Idea - why don't you clean it up a bit, get it running, then re-sell it for a bit of a profit? Low mileage bikes mean that most (if not all) parts are original. Most of the parts last for years & years. Some of the rubber parts (like o-rings) may need replacing, but that's not a big deal. The best part is, these low-mileage diamonds in the rough run like new, and are quiet.

Can't help but agree. Don't break it unless absolutely necessary.

No, it's a breaker, I'm afraid. Been left in a damp leaky shed with a sheet of polythene over it for a couple of years, plus not far from the sea. The front mudguard has no chrome left and the tank has big rust spots all over it. Every chrome part is rusted pretty badly. The silencers just snapped off at the collector box when I tried taking them off yesterday, but surprisingly the seat base is good. Thee has been a field mouse nesting in the seat at some point and half the foam has gone. The engine is white and was seized until I got some WD 40 down the plug holes and rocked the back wheel in top gear. The frame is rusty around the footpeg and swinging arm area but it looks solid enough. Wheels look ok, 16 inch rear, plastics are pretty good too, seat rail is rusty. A lot of bits that will keep my trike running for years, hopefully!
