Well today started a little crazy the wifes car decided to need a part and I had to get dog food so I couldnt take the bike. So off I go and when I get back I see the cx500 Turbo on its side and the front turn signal shattered... I pick up some pieces and ask my wife what happened? The boys tried to move your bike to get the golf cart out. I asked the boys if they are to ever touch my bike and the answer was no!!! Very angry now as I have removed the fairing and the turn signal to find I will super glue the pieces back together for now but need to find a replacement lense!!! Anyone know of anyone with a right front lense? Thanks angry at my boys Tom

First off, sorry to hear about your bike - glad to hear that the boys were not injured in anyway.
I personally don't have anything that I can offer. A new old stock Honda lense can run upward of $125.00 when/if you locate one. Bob (Showkey) here on the forum makes his own aftermarket replacements and sells them. Perhaps he has one that he could sell you or something, which would be cheaper than a Honda one. Send an e-mail to Bob, Showkey at aol dot com to ask about pricing and availabilty since he isn't on here a whole lot.
Or maybe someone else on here has a used one for you.

That's a bummer. However, not tragic. You can get a lens from Bob Showkey. I bought one months ago for my 650T. He will probably respond to your post himself, but here is his e-mail: showkey at aol dot com

Hey Rod, with all of the bots on this forum, could you split up his e-amil to look something like showkey at aol dot com?
(I'm sure he'd appreciate the lack of spam.

Just a thought - not that it would have helped in this case, but there are "sliders" you can mount to bodywork at strategic points so if the bike goes down, these "pucks" absorb the road rash.
I'm looking into these for and Interstate fairing, but thought the turbo bodywork would benefit from these too.
Has anyone looked into these items?

Sliders have to mount to a solid engine mount location, no reasonable place to mount them on a CXT, plus they would have to stick out a mile in order to protect the upper part of the fairing. I think a Silverwing would be about the same. If mounted to a random part of the frame they can do much more harm than good. Also most frame sliders on modern bikes require boring large holes through the fairing. I paid a small fortune for a kit for my Busa that uses brackets so that I didn't have to ruin my fairings in order to protect them.
I've also seen small pucks, bobbins or mushrooms that replace fairing screws. Those things are a joke, it's like letting the bike fall on a rock. Not only do they snap off and crack the fairing, I have pictures of puckered in aluminum frames because of them. They seem to be popular in the UK.

There is no feasible way to install modern sliders. The only realistic place to get the strength you need is to install them on the engine mounts, and as has been pointed ot, the bolts would be too long to be effective.
I have been looking into modifying a fairing to allow standard CX engine case guards, but I'm not sure that even those can save a front turn signal light.

No problem, I was just curious, your post evidenced that we were thinking along the same lines.

Agreed, nothing will save the turn signals, but I still think pucks can be added even if it means modifying the bodywork to ensure a solid mount is in place behind the bodywork/puck.
I think if you do this, you are saying that controled modification is less effort than fixing lots of road rash. And I say this knowing even with well placed pucks you will still have some fairing damage.
I'll post how I did it on the Silverwing once done.

The exhaust on the lower right takes care of the lower. There is a mounting spot above the exhaust. What about putting some highway bars somewhere? Just nothing to mount to. Turn signal is glued and will order sometime next week since the check book shows spiderwebs instead of money.... Thanks for all of everyones help...
