Dan Topping; no responses
|
|
|
|
|
I will no longer waste my time trying to inquire of Dan Topping about parts. I have sent e-mails, and others have also sent him e-mails. He never responds. He will now be blacklisted. As far as I am concerned, there is NO EXCUSE for not responding one way or another. I'll figure out my parts needs as it comes up. Between us all, we can keep our bikes up and running.......

Unfortunately this is very common...
It is not a trait of most CXT owners/enthusiasts, so please don't label all of us this way....
Is there something I can help you with Rod? I have a ton of used, and some new parts. I ship internationally and domestically weekly.

I've never really had any problems getting in touch with Dan. Seriously, have you tried calling him?
Further, if you need the copper gaskets, you can just go to the source directly now.

I had issues on several occasions, but always hung in there and eventually got what I needed. Its been an ongoing problem for years, old posts on TMIOA attest to it.

I just busted your "never responds" comment. I am here now, and will do my best to help out any way I can. If you insist on blacklisting me let me enlighten you to other CXT enthusiasts which I know have substantial CXT inventory. Pete Kroll, Ron Graf, Tim Dienhard, and any others they may recommend. I can also provide overseas resources also. Econohonda in New Zealand is a good source. If you need more just let me know.

Thankfully the mortgage closing occured just before the two week break between school quarters. I used those two weeks to move in, clean the old apartment, and get somewhat settled in. 90% done but the next 10% will kill me. The house is very nice and brand new so I count myself very fortunate. I just miss my 1800 sq.ft. shop I had in Tifton. new address is 528 Kaitlin Circle, Griffin, GA 30223. I had to change from Charter.net ot Comcast.net for cable, internet, and phone. The cell is the same 229-848-2219, and the gmail account is the same.

yeah Gopher, last night's post reminded me of myself - especially the part where he came back later and edited it once he had cooled down some

Well I understand when you want to get the CXT back on the road or fix it up, you want the parts asap. My problem is I lost my shop when i moved to Alabama. I had a friend give me some shop space to store the unorganized inventory in about 20 some odd large boxes, and a fleet of bikes. But moving 3 times in 5 years has about burned me out of hauling around all this stuff. It would shock you if you saw it all. I have sold all the bikes except for my original 500T. Due to the lack of a place to shelf all the inventory so that I can find stuff quickly, I have not been able to provide the service customers deserve. As a side note building educational programs from scratch is brutal on my schedule as 50-60 hours a week teaching day and night programs makes it tough as well. I do manage to ship domestic and international like Pete on a weekly basis, however, some customers do not get the same expected level of service. What little time I can steal, I ride my CXT for stress relief, so at least we all have that in common. Please bear with me as I am moving again into a new house and trying to organize the inventory one more time. Thanks!

Remember: before you throw anything out; call someone... :)
Did you sell the "E" and did you get close to what you were hoping to get.?
DaBeers needs a starter switch for the 650 if you can find one, but I expect you've seen his post or heard from Him.

Thanks for the plug Tony
I did get in touch with Dan (despite all the running's around he's been doing as of late). Had no problem. Dan is (like a lot of us) a busy man
No dice from him on the start/stop switch. I may just rig something up temporary until I can find a original replacement (they are out there)
Unfortunately I don't have a CXT parts bike to scavenge off of.....maybe someday.
I agree with Dan that riding the turbo is great stress relief......hence I'm all tense

Yes, the "E" went to new home in California. I couldn't stand to watch it sit and not get to ride it much. I got what I considered a fair price considering the market. A dealer bought it for a customer who had been searching for a long time for one.

I wish that I had saved my money and bought yours rather than import one and buy puffer-nutter's. I'm just NOW getting to my imported bike's engine, and it's still not registered with the CA DMV.

Well, in a sense, I cheated. I put a 650T rear rim on the one I'm riding, so I'm running 110/80/18 front, 130/90/17 rear Avon RoadRiders (which just squeezed in 1/8" clearance to the brake arm). Bike rides like it's on rails.
However, I was running 100/90/18 front, 130/80/18 rear- Bridgestone BT45's. I do not like the BT45's. No confidence in them, Avon is vastly superior in both wet and dry grip. I'll have to look again, but I think that the stock 18" CXE rim is a 2.5." Based on Ron Bowen's information, a 130/90/18 is an acceptable tire, 130/80 is pushing it a little.
