No massive customizations but just put my spare CX back on the road after a year plus absence. Vista Cruise Control(A must have for me) Home made heated grips. Motad 2 into 1 exhaust. LED Stop Tail lights. Soon to be converted to Electric fan. 20w fork oil(A must have) Carb screws replaced with Allen bolts to make float bowl cleaning in-bike easier. CB900 front brake callipers. Custom bars and 43" cables.
Had to fully service the carbs and found water in the float bowls.Paint used was el cheapo Household non drip gloss(Fuel Resistant) un-none dripped ,thinned and sprayed.£6.95 uk for 750ml Crimson Red with enough left for another respray

And this is how the bike was left in the back of my garage for a couple of years once I had used it as a donor bike for my main CX.

Tank cap drying as we speak

Dangerous to get another running; the other bike will have issue with this!
On a seperate note Shep, the the small windscreen on the plastic fairing, are they hard to come by? You cannot get these over here, and I think they make the little fairing look complete with them on it.

They are like,"Rocking horse poo" over here as well.I do have a spare but it's not in great condition as it has a small crack(Repairable) and the perspex has gone sort of crazed.I was going to repair it and paint it Satin Black which would mean it's opaque but still look good if you are interested?
I prefer these like on my other CX,
http://www.getgeared.co.uk/PUIG_Universal_Mini_Sports_Touring_Motorcycle_Screen

They are made for the none nacelle type headlights but I got it to work by not using their supplied brackets and drilling a couple of holes through my Nacelle. It's incredibly good for wind considering it's size once set right and if you duck under it at speed and I have it set to deflect the wind just over my helmet under normal riding.
At night or low light it makes you feel like you are in an Aircraft cockpit with a HUD as it reflects the panel lights etc.Really cool feeling.

I wish I had gone for the smoked one instead of clear. The supplied one was a little different to the one in their picture e.g not as wide but I didn't care once it was fitted and at that price it was a bargain compared with some of the silly prices asked.

It's funny because if I could have found a Yellow in the Cheap Synthetic-oil based home gloss I wanted to steal your Yellow.Heh Heh
But that Crimson red has turned out ok I think.I don't spray metallics so it will do for me and I didn't want to 2 pack clear coat the tank hence cheap house paint 1 coat, fuel resistant.
And the best Aerosol Silver paint in the world IMNSHO for engines and the drive box etc,
Platikote 665 Satin finish.Acts as a pretty good VHT paint, dries in no time, easy to spray and touch up and covers well and needs no primer on most jobs.
http://www.tools4trade.com/d-3099003-Plastikote-665-Radiator-Enamal-Spray-Satin-Chrome-400ml--.aspx
DIY superstores usually carry it.

I'm a sprayer by trade(Aircraft) so only do automotive as a hobby for myself but there's tricks I know to using paints to get a decent finish from even cheap paints not intended for the purpose(You wouldn't believe some of the concoctions I've had to work with/come up with in my job).I'm going to make a post on my forum on how to use,"None Drip" household paint.I could have got a better finish but will explain that in the post and the technique for spraying this paint is different than normal. Not hard, just different.
You do need a Spray system and I used an add-on gun, constant bleed to a semi-industrial vacuum cleaner but the same guns are in these systems over there from Harbor freight,
http://www.harborfreight.com/high-volume-low-pressure-spray-gun-kit-44677.aspx
Very cheap for you guys over there and will soon pay for itself in the savings against using Rattle cans over a period of time. They can be used for,"Water Based" paints and coatings as well so you can do fence protection etc with them.I wish they were as cheap here and I would not have bought my system as it's a bit bulky with the Vac.I have a compressor as well but it's not powerful enough for my,"Pro" guns hence the,"Home" version.

I believe Eagle Screens in Western Australia still makes a replica. A little taller than OEM, but keeps your gauges nice.

Shep.. can you show a couple of pictures of how you mounted this shield on your bike?

I like the looks of that one and agree that the smoked one would be a better choice.

Excellent I enjoy bringing things back to life with a good paint. In college I took auto body finishing but did not pursue that later on of which I should have. Look forward to your post.

Just one bolt either side.I found a good position and drilled through the nacelle but used some Plastic washers under the bolts and nuts inside. It's solid and doesn't rattle or move,

They come supplied with brackets to use on the normal type Head light shells.
Now thinking back if they had sent me the one in the picture above it may not have fitted around the indicators so if you were thinking of getting one from over here I would email them and point them to this thread so you get the EXACT same one as me as I know it will fit or is me just not seeing they are the same?

How'd you get the cap to look like that? I like it, looks like it's made of brass now.

It's another Plastikote Aerosol pant.
Metallic gold. It's a easy to spray and not a bad paint but you cannot polish it otherwise is loses it's Gold/Brass effect and the same happens if you clear coat it so it's not very fuel resistant but as it's on top of the cap and really easy to respray any time that's not a real problem. You can dust dry it fast with a Hair-dryer.To clean just wipe with a damp cloth once it's cured after leaving over night.
Just to add the rain got to that Gold cap so the paint is not robust enough and when I previously tried to clear coat it that ruined the efect as well so I go with Black Red or maybe a Gun metal silver.

Well it's sort of a bad joke.We have to pay,"Road Tax" over here as well as insurance and for a Road Worthiness certificate however any motorcycles/cars made prior to 1973 don't have to pay it as they are classed as,"Vintage".It sticks in our craw when you have motorcycle over 25 years old but aren't exempt form the Tax.There have been petitions and lobbies but no movement from the government.
Yes the unit is a Stebel Low note horn,
this recording does not do it justice as it's way louder but my Digital camera as a built in sound leveller/compression

This recording is better,

That sounds pretty substantial, makes me think that something along those lines might be in my future. Nothing worse than getting angry at somebody and pushing the horn, only to hear a little clown-car sounding "meep".

Shep,
The only problem is finding somewhere in the USA (or that ships to USA) that carries any of those models :)
I did find one place that carries the "Raptor" (pg 24/25) though, and that one seems to look pretty cool too.
