ACLU where R U?? American Civil Liberties Union...where R U 2??

Ahhh....the Peoples Republic doesn't disappoint.
Can you image if someone had DARED to tell a student he couldn't wear a Mexican, Venezuelan, Puerto Rican or Che Tshirt?? Our founders are officially spinning in their graves. WTF, seriously, WTF. Political correctness trumps all, I bet they would have received an award from the High School Administrators if they had been Burning the Flag.
California Students Sent Home for Wearing U.S. Flags on Cinco de Mayo
Administrators at a California high school sent five students home on Wednesday after they refused to remove their American Flag T-shirts and bandannas -- garments the school officials deemed "incendiary" on Cinco de Mayo.
The five teens were sitting at a table outside Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, Calif., on Wednesday morning when Assistant Principal Miguel Rodriguez asked two of them to remove their American flag bandannas, the Morgan Hill Times reported. The boys told the newspaper they complied, but were asked to accompany Rodriguez to the principal's office.
The five students -- Daniel Galli, Austin Carvalho, Matt Dariano, Dominic Maciel and Clayton Howard -- were then told they must turn their T-shirts inside-out or be sent home, though it would not be considered a suspension. Rodriguez told the students he did not want any fights to break out between Mexican-American students celebrating their heritage and those wearing American flags.
"They said we were starting a fight," Dariano told the newspaper. "We were fuel to the fire."
The boys told Rodriguez and Principal Nick Boden that turning their shirts inside-out was disrespectful, so their parents decided to take them home, the newspaper reports.
"I just couldn't believe it," Julie Fagerstrom, Maciel's mother, told the newspaper. "I'm an open-minded parent, but it's got to be on both sides. It can't be five kids singled out."
Galli told NBC Bay Area, "They said we could wear it on any other day, but today is sensitive to Mexican-Americans because it's supposed to be their holiday so we were not allowed to wear it."
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Morgan Hill Unified School District said it did not agree with the school's actions.
"In an attempt to foster a spirit of cultural awareness and maintain a safe and supportive school environment, the Live Oak High School administration took certain actions earlier today," the statement read. "The district does not concur with the Live Oak High School administration's interpretation of either board or district policy related to these actions."
Attempts to reach school officials early Thursday were not successful. A secretary told the Morgan Hill Times that Boden and Rodriguez were unavailable for comment on Wednesday.
According to its website, Live Oak High School is a 1,300-student institution in the southern part of Santa Clara County, with most students residing in the nearby cities of Morgan Hill and San Jose.
While bandannas of any color are banned at the school, its dress code policy does not contain references to American flags.
"However, any clothing or decoration which detracts from the learning environment is prohibited," the policy reads. "The school has the right to request that any student dressing inappropriately for school will change into other clothes, be sent home to change, and/or be subject to disciplinary action."
Freshman Laura Ponce, who had a Mexican flag painted on her face and chest, told the Morgan Hill Times that Cinco de Mayo is the "only day" Mexican-American students can show their national pride.
"There was a lot of drama going on today," Ponce told the newspaper.

I'm a little tired of all this "sensitive" crap. When did society turn into such a bunch of pansies? OK, I'm a teacher and I'm the first to step up if I think somebody is being bullied, but this whole 'being afraid to offend somebody' thing has got to stop. Comedy Central edited a South Park episode because they said the name Mohammed several times, so the tv version bleeped the name every time they said it. The DMV's in many states now have the driving test in several different languages. I hate to sound like a red neck, but damn people, get a grip.
Sorry, this gets me kinda angry, I'll quit the rant now.

Wow. Sent home for wearing an American flag in an American school.
I can't help but notice the asshat who did it is named "Miguel Rodriguez". Gee I wonder what nationality he is?
This is past PC, this is flat outrageous.
Can't wear an American flag in a school funded by American taxpayers money because it might offend someone from another country? To quote the previous poster, get a friggin grip people!

I don't care anything about offending somebody by displaying the American flag but I will remind you guys that wearing the flag as an article of clothing is showing disrespect to it. It is always inappropriate. Wear a patch instead.

More reason to push out the illegals. If you're going to be offended by the flag of the country which you are living in that's a sign that you should get the hell out or be put to death. We have people right now dying for our flag. Maybe we should pull everyone back to the U.S. to defend our border and remove these illegals.

The shirts were not flags or made from flags, they had pictures of flags on them. No disrespectful display issues except maybe the bandannas which were banned anyway.
Wearing the bandannas shows they were probably trying to start trouble. Since they are banned anyway they should have been removed or confiscated when they walked on campus in the morning.
The kids were probably being trouble makers by wearing the clothes and the "offended" people need to accept they are in America or get the hell out. Both parties have issues. We'll accept that.
That said the Asst principal should have simply separated the 2 groups into private study halls and made them sit out the day in quiet introspection. Problem solved.

My aunt in MD just emailed me about an unrelated topic, but similar enough, I think, to be mentioned here. Her 10 year old daughter was given an assignment to write a paper on racism. So she wrote about how the school wouldn't hire her mother as an assistant because, while needing to fill the position, they hadn't filled their "black" quota. Daughter was instructed to rewrite the paper and it had to be about whites mistreating blacks and KKK, etc.
Schools these days, and all this PC crap is totally out of hand. Just glad I don't have kids!

I guess that's why I watch "My Name is Earl". It is so politically incorrect. My wife claims my I.Q. drops a couple points with each episode.

the amazing thing is that the USA hating greenies, commies, PCers, liberals progressives have influence way out of proportion to their numbers. They gained power by infiltrating academia and the "news" outlets.

My question is,
why did they decide to dress that way, on "that" particular day?
Yes patriotism should allowed, but I think this was something else, perhaps provocation, which appears the Assistant Principal was attempting to deter before who knows what could happen.
Racial tension appears to be alive and not so well around the globe, so nipping this in the bud, perhaps should be seen as a smart move.
Because his last name appears to be hispanic, may have well given him an insight as to what this action could have caused to happen on this day.
We need to see all sides, before we judge.

I've got to respectfully disagree with that view point. The principal went beyond what the regulations specified, with no basis on his decision. What's to stop a kid from wearing a mexican or puerto rican flag on memorial day? It's the same thing as far as I'm concerned, and I see kids wearing italian or brazilian flag shirts all the time because they are soccer fans. Like I said before, this whole "sensitivity" thing has gotten out of control.

I wholeheartedly agree that this over sensitized, watch what you say, to who, world has gone overboard. But, this was a group/gang/gathering
that can escalate, quite rapidly into turf wars.
Have you heard the latest protest from Australian
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd?
He is pulling no punches and telling it like it is.
Quote " THIS IS OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and
OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about OUR FLAG, OUR PLEDGE, OUR CHRISTIAN beliefs, or OUR WAY OF LIFE, I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,
THE RIGHT TO LEAVE".
"If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked/decided to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted."
This mans got my vote.

I have nothing against the Mexicans celebrating their day just do it in Mexico. What would happen if we had a flag waving parade in Mexico. There was a great operation after WWII called operations wetback. It solved 13 million problems. BillRod
