It's a programmable CDI replacement so you don't get stuck with a dead wire box and start crying along side the road as you walk for a rescue vehicle.

More info here.

http://choppercharles.com/cs/forums/89642/ShowPost.aspx

I got mine after walking 4 miles in leather in july or august I cant seem to remember. It was hot.

When Cobram closes the deal he will email everyone who said they wanted one then get a price for them so the buyer can pay him by paypal or snail mail.

Maybe it has something to do with having to take the bus to work today, but I want one, also. I'm going to do some diagnostic testing tonight after I get home, but I'm fairly sure my CDI went out again. I have a new, unused spare that I can put in, but I want to try the Ignitech.

Please put me down for one.  My 1981 Custom is acting like it needs some new spark windings, this would be a nice bypass.

Thanks,

If we don't get in too big of a hurry to order we could probably hit 40 or maybe even 50.  I wonder what kind of discount it would be then???

Most people seem to be getting them more as a "just in case" or preventative maintenance, rather than "bike broken... need now." I'm down with waiting a bit, no rush here.

Maybe because one can be sure this unit will most likely fail because of the capacitors in it sooner or later...  If one doesn't get it on a group buy it will cost considerably more money.  Also I am betting that if one never used it they could always sell it to some other poor soul who needs it.  Maybe even you!!!...haha...J/K...

Yeah even though the number might be bigger it's not worth the wait. This list has been going on since october or november and everyday week keep going the potential that more people drop off the list. If I was financially endowed I would throw down money for 10 myself just to keep spares for when they pop up but I know I don't have the cash so I won't dream of helping in that way.

Spring is coming and we need to start collecting money to get these babies running. Pretty sure Cobram will be willing to do another as people are interested.

I think this list started the last day of December and Cobram stated the buy would be in March or April.  I am just one person here and it makes no difference to me one way or the other on when they are ordered.  If there are people who need them soon as possible that suits me just fine.  I didn't mean to upset anyones apple cart by anything I said as I was just blabbing on...  And with that I think this 78 year olddawg has said just about enuff...haha...

It works with the Honda coils just fine.  Like said it's a cdi replacement. No other parts have to be replaced to make it work.

When the time comes Cobram will inquire on a proforma form on the amount of units we are going to get and then he will be able to figure out how much individual units will cost.  I would just set aside $165 right now and hopefully it will be a bit cheaper.

I'm curious - since this replaces the CDI box and uses the CDI coils, is this still technically a CDI ignition, or does it convert us to TAI?  I'm asking because of the CDI ignition theory thread :)

Reply Quote
PLEASE READ.

Thanks for keeping track of the numbers stitch.

I submitted a RFO (Request for Quote) with Ignitech , and they promised me an invoice tomorrow.

The units will be factory fresh, they well be assembled/manufactured next week.

When I receive the Pro-Forma Invoice with the factory pricing, I will email and PM all interested CXer's WHO POSTED THEIR INTEREST TO THIS THREAD.  So, if your email address is not up to date, update it, if you never check you PM's (Click "Forums" then "Private Messages" at the top of the page to read your private CX board mail box.)  I will be using the contact boxes at the bottom of your posts on this thread to contact you.

I will ask that you please WAIT for my email/PM to you before contacting me, all or most of your questions and concerns will be answered by then.  Until I hear back from Ignitech, if you read this far, you have all the information I have about pricing/delivery etc. .

The buy is still OPEN, I will post the final price per unit to this thread when I have one,  so anyone who has been sitting on the fence, waiting for a price or came to this thread late can still participate.  I will try and keep this open for as long as possible, usually up until two days before the confirmed shipping date of the manufacturer.

LAST CALL: CDI *SPRINGTIME* Ignitech Group buy.

IMPORTANT update.

As of this posting, I have contacted everyone who posted with interest in this buy via PM and E-mail.  If you do not have an email or a PM from me yet, you are NOT included in the group buy.  Get in touch with me ASAP if you're interested or post here.

The delivered to your door in the USA via insured Priority Mail this time around will be: U$155 a unit.  That’s U$8 cheaper a unit than the last group purchase, even though shipping and local taxes have gone up since then.  They will also be throwing in a brand new harness connector for the bike if you want to make it 1000% connection and replace your 25+ year old connector as part of the update.   US Customs has let the units through with no duties or hassles in the past, hopefully it’ll continue that way.

Canadians-you get the same price, priority mail included BUT, there is NO INSURANCE TO CANADA for small package Priority Mail.  There have been 4 Canuck buyers on previous group buys who didn’t opt for the insurance, they all received their packages (albeit with some delay in one case.)  If you want it insured to Canada, it will cost an extra U$35.  Up to you, if there is a delay or whatever,  there is absolutely nothing I can do unless you opt for the insurance coverage, you won’t even get simple tracking.

Other 4N'ers outside the US and Canada, send me your address and I'll get you a shipping quote before you commit to the buy.

Herding cats comes to mind sometimes.

I haven't heard back from a few of you.  READ the email/PM I sent you, please.

DO NOT use the email reply button on this site.  It is NOT reliable, and if you sent me a message and I haven't replied, I didn't get your message.

DO use the email I included (several times) in the message, it's the most reliable to contact me.

ramjet - I sent you email/PM via this site, and then repeated by direct email and haven't heard from you.  Do you have some sort of spam blocker on?  The PM message I sent you is still sitting unread in your PM folder here on the list.

To those who got in touch with me quickly, making your intentions known or already made payments, thanks, it really helps keep the group buy organized and smooth.

There are still 9 people who I haven't heard back from yet.

Don't forget to include your CC user name in the subject or in the message somewhere, otherwise I have no way of matching up your user name with your real name and email address.

Do include your address if you're going to use PayPal, it does not send your physical address with payment notification.

I'll keep everyone posted if there is any new news on the order.

I too, am feeling the need to confirm again with you Cobram that you received my email notification regarding my payment.  I tried to get my info and link the email to this account in a rather roundabout way, so I'm hoping you figured it all out.
