It's done automatically and I've never noticed any difference in idle speed whether cold or hot.  Mine always starts first crank and has instant throttle response even when stone cold.

Are we talking about hot and cold weather ?

Because there should be a differance between a cold engine idle and a warm engine idle.

When I first had my Turbo it had the same no differance between a warm or a cold engine. I checked the idle valve and it was stuck in the open position. After bending the Bi-metal strip it functioned again as it should. Now when I start the engine it idles around 2000 rpm and after 5 minutes or see it goes down to around 1100 rpm.

Very informative is the maintenance video's that Phogroian has placed on youtube.

The cold air valve is mentioned in video number 4 :

You can manually adjust the cold air valve....Little tiny nut under a glob of sealant...

where is this valve located? i think mine is stuck because it idled fast once it was started after a 20 year sleep and stayed at high idle, so i turned down the idle speed. i cant seem to find much in the manual about the vavle.

Yes I saw you mention this some days ago on this forum, think it's a beter way than my solution of bending the bi-metal strip.

It only takes five minutes... No need to remove the valve... Simple and done...
