i just got a 79 cx500c trying to turn it in to a bobber sofar i have a solo seat and some cool mirrors and a head light i plan to cut the back part of the fram behind the shocks i was wondering if anybody out there had any suggestions for my other then the basics

Everyone seems to fall into the bobber/chopper/dual sport craze. Check out the post your ride sections as there are a lot of bikes in there.

are you going to drop it?  how about hard tail?   You going for the "Brat" style Bob?  all these play into what you are trying to do...

i would like to make it a hard tail but im not sure of the best way to go at it

Hard tailing is easy. Just make some struts that bolt up like shocks. I made mine out of some round stock. I think I made mine 10.5 inches, it lowered the bike 8 inches overall.

I did the same. on a GL its a little trickier because there are no mounts where the original struts go, I ended up replacing the rear diff with one from a cx any how so i just had to secure it to the top section with a grade 8 bolt.
