Father Daughter CX Reserection

Originally I got this bike to flip, then my wife and daughter started squabbeling over it... well in the end I jumped in and told my wife I would get her a bike better suited to her needs... IF Trinity (my step daughter) would help me restore this old ride it would be hers... if not then i would flip it.
Here is how the bike looked when I first brought it home.

we stripped off all the plastic this past week and started painting... Trin wants it Purple, Black, and Silver to match her Mountain Bike.

and here is one with her mountain bike next to the CX for comparison

We then ran out of paint... so waiting for next paycheck to pick up some more... Here are the sidecovers in the Base Silver Coat

**Sorry the pictures didn't turn out great... thats what I get for using such a lousy cheap camera.

we do too... we liked the look of your bike... so went this way for the base coat. As soon as my daughter gets back from a camping trip she is going to be laying down some silver and black graphics... not sure what she will come up with... but I am sure she will find something cool to put on it.
unfortunately we won't be able to tear it down as far as we wanted too and get to the engine and frame this summer... that is going to have to wait until I get back from Afghanistan in March of 2012.

Looks great so far. I can't for my kids to get old enough to want to join in on the motorcycle pasion thats growing in my family. Take care in the big kitty litter box. I did a tour in Iraq in 2003. If you need anything while your over there pm me and I will see what I can do for special requests, but I can always get the basics out there to you. Can't wait to see the finnished product on the bike.

Thanks for your concerns... I will keep you guys updated. I am here for several more months... but things are starting to get hectic with all my "training". And to top it off, I just found out I have less than 2 weeks to move... the good news... I already have a new place to move into and its only 3 blocks from where I am at now.
as for getting my daughter to help... It wasn't hard... Told her if she wanted the bike it was hers... she just had to fix it. now to get her back out there to finish putting it back together enough to ride it to the new house. I worked on it a little bit last week end while she was away... I am having problems with the choke cable... it won't stay out (Choke on). before we tore the bike apart, the choke and carb cables were sticking, I cleaned an lubed the cables, and now the throttle doesn't stick, but the choke cable won't keep the choke on. any ideas?

Does your choke cable have a twist action just below the pull knob to lock or release the pull?

(Smacks head) Heh, I'll bet that is why mine is so hard to pull out and push in. I didn't know about that. Will check it tomorrow.
