07-09-2010, 4:36 PM slimvulcanrider Joined on 04-03-2010 Upstate NY Posts 91 WTB stock 1978 CX500D Body Parts I am looking for some odds and ends of body parts to finish off my Restoration on a 1978 CX500.   Items needed: Tank Tank Badges Side Cover Badges Necklace Badge Chrome Front Fender Seat Cover and any other emblems that I have missed.  Also needing Handle Bar Switches, Throttle Tube, Mirrors, cables, the list will grow and shrink as I find parts... is there a good place to get the Badges as NOS parts?    Report

The CX only came in two varieties in 1978,  Black or Red.  The parts you need come up regularly on FleaBay and occasionally here, but you'll have a hard time finding someone willing to part with just the badges, you'll usually have to take the side covers etc. to get the badges. 1978 CX500 - I live on a one-way street that's also a dead end. I'm not sure how I got here, or how I'm going to get out. Four wheels move the body; Two wheels move the Soul.    Report

07-10-2010, 11:45 PM slimvulcanrider Joined on 04-03-2010 Upstate NY Posts 91 Re: WTB stock 1978 CX500D Body Parts Getting the whole covers isn't a bad option... if the badges is in better condition than mine... although I have to have a new tank.. color doesn't matter because the bike is going Purple... check out my thread "Father Daughter Restoration" also more interested in finding a place to buy new... would rather have new parts than used... even if it means spending more... My daughter wants this thing to look better than new... but staying as close to OEM as we can.      Report
