07-11-2010, 3:00 PM showmedude Joined on 05-20-2010 SoCal Desert - Antelope Valley Posts 30 WTB Engine Guard for GL500 Looking for engine guard bars for my '82 GL500I.  Info says same bars as CX500, but not the GL650.  Some "pretty used" ones on bid-bay that will probably go for $50-60 with s&h. Missouri Boy Livin' in California '82 GL500I 5-23-2010 ------------------------------------ I've got a fantastic memory, it's just really short.    Report

(the forward engine hanger is different between the 500 / 650) I do believe some styles have been slightly adjusted to fit each, though. If you look at several silverwing pictures, you'll see just the upper engine guard to fuller lower loop designs. Just wondering if you had a preferance...? Couple GL's and CX650 ... everythings in work....    Report

Not really looking for great big setup that supports highway pegs and the like, mainly just want to protect the engine from road rash. Google- guards and gl-500 and you will find it. There are slight differerences in mounting. Also the hardware is available as I just ordered some to mount a pair of used honda guards on my bike.
