What oil do you use in your car?

Basically, Im taking part in a boycott of BP. That includes Castrol which is my typical go to oil. I dont really know what other oil to use.
So consider this can of worms open.

Good question. My truck hates Penzoil or at least penzoil oil filters. For some reason I get extremely low oil pressure from my idiot gauge. But that could also be disputed as bad wiring since when I replace the last 2 feet of wire oil pressure went good but at that time I was using Quakerstate.

I just take mine to Jiffy Lube... I know, lazy right? I just find it much easier to have them keep track of when my diff/atf/radiator/ or transfer case needs serviced. I'm pretty sure they use Penzoil.

I use whatever is on sale or least expensive at the quicky lube joints. Castrol works great in my Ural and I plan no boycotts.
I want BP to remain HUGELY profitable or they will just file bancruptcy against all the oil spill claims and WE end up the losers.
Besides, local boycotts only hurt the local US merchants trying to make a buck selling gasoline and Slurpies.

For my truck, I'll throw in what ever oil is cheapest since she'll pretty much run the same on anything I give her. I've always been a huge fan of Valvoline oil and Fram filters, so that's what the car gets. The bike gets the Shell Rotella you all always suggest.

Castrol GTX / Fram
or
Quaker State / Quaker State
Yeah, it's probably not the best out there but pretty much any new oil/filter is way better than leaving the old stuff in!

I use NAPA oil which is Vavoline. Many years ago I was working on a rented lift platform at a Sunoco refinery in the section where they were producing quart containers of oil. On the same line they made Sunoco, Gulf and Harley Davidson oil. Same oil just different containers. I've seen the same tanker company delivering to several different brand gas stations including BP. Who's to say it's not the same gas?

Here's a few worms in the can............
Red bottle wal mart high mileage in the water cooled beaters.
Castrol GTX dino oil in the air cooled VW's.
We did tests on oil temp in the old AC VW's and found synthetic oil didnt cool as well as the old school dino oils.
The non synthetic "Soaked" up the cylinder wall heat and got rid of it through the engine cooling fins better than the slippery sythetics did !!!!!!
Not a issue with a watercooler with a good system.

A friend of mine said that oil from Pennsylvania was paraffin based and others were tar based. I don't know but it makes sense. Best oils seem to come from Pennsylvania.

Back in the early 1960s when I got my first car my Dad told me there were only two types of motor oil. Pennsylvania Oil and Texas Oil. Which ever one you started using in your car you had to stay with. I don't know if that is true anymore. My Dad used Quaker State and swore by it. It never dawned on me to ask him how he knew what oil the car already had in it.

I was using motocraft semi-synthetic. Switched to 76 semi-sythetic and oil consumption dropped in half.
Now using Castrol High Mileage. I like it.
Several years ago, I had bought an older used car that had relativel low mileage on it. Turs out that an elderly couple used it only for local trips to groceries or church or restaurant. The engine was using exsessive oil and had low oild pressure. Turns out that the oil pickup screen was clogged almost shut with hardened wax. The mechanic said that it wss a result of parafin based oil with the engine likely never got hot enough for long enough to burn off the moisture in the oil.
