question for turbo guys who currently own (or have owned) a non-turbo cx
Reply Quote
i'm wondering about putting turbo foot pegs on my cafe project.  they seem to set back and up a bit more than the standard cx pegs.  based on pictures, they seem to mount differently, but in the same basic location.  you guys who actually have turbos and are in the know, what are the possibilities of this working out for me?  i know they're not a direct bolt on, but could they work with a little bit of fab work?

Dean,

Should be pretty straight forward to do, but here is a way to make it even easier.
Get a piece of plywood and a piece of card board, cut a rough template out of card and transfer it to the plywood, then mount your turbo pegs on the plywood to check that the other controls can still be used without having to modify them. Then get the ply used as a template for machining the peg mounts. the only drawback to this route is not owning Turbo pegs to start with, (which is I suppose what you really wanted to know!!) but lets face it, a little maching and thought can get most things to fit most things!
If you want measurements or specs just ask and I will get mine and measure them for you, I would do it now but the garage is kinda 'busy' right now.
If you need to get pegs I am sure that CXTURBOBOOST or Dan Topping could help you out (amongst others too, I'm sure)

any of you turbo guys have a set laying around you could part with?  i'm thinking the shifter would be nice to have too.

You will probably need a shifter from a Eurosport.
The Turbo shifter is straight, and might not clear the pipes.  It might.

I think I have a spare footpeg from an E model.
I'll check it against my GL650I to see if it will work.

Okay,
I compared the Eurosport to the GL650 last night.
There may be one foot peg mounting bolt in common, but that's it, and the Eurosport/turbo foot peg mounts require three mounting points.

if you wouldn't mind doing me a favor... could you hold it up to the mounting spot and snap a quick pic of it for me so i know if it's something i want to hassle with or not?  you could just email me the pic if you want rather than having to post it here.  my email is mahatma at hotmail dot com.

thanks
