SW Wisconsin ride
Reply Quote
Three of us from MN rode around SW Wisconsin last weekend.  It was blazing hot and humid but we found some fun roads and a posh campsite with a pool and hot tub.
We rode the Mindoro Cut road (108) very curvy.  As we were taking the picture below a couple pulled up on a BMW GS followed by friends family and a preacher.  They got married right there at the Mindoro Cut plaque.   33 around Wildcat Mountain State Park was nice.  Then there are lots of roads in the area that change elevation, twist and turn.  We just asked around and got some good advice.  Co. Rd. "P" was one of them.   Another day we went on the Great River Road down the Mississippi to Iowa and Illinois.  At one point we crossed the Mississippi on a ferry.

You guys were in my neck of the woods.   Those roads are nice.  There are some roads around here that make you wish you had another hinge in the middle of your bike, if you like the twisties it truly is some of the best motorcycling in the midwest if not the country.

Which campground did you stay at?

Ponch here. I'm the cool dude in the pic with the red/black jacket. Had a blast. We went nearly 1,000 miles. Butt is sore, but I'd do it again. I also have an 82 Sliverwing Interstate. 56,000 and still going strong! Pumped up the air shocks, turned on the iPod, and enjoyed the ride! Got 50+ MPG! We stayed at Neshonoc Lakeside Campgrounds.

So, Shane, now that you've scouted the area, when's the official HTTA-MN event happening?

Yeah, when is it happening?  We should pick a date and meet somewhere in this neck of the woods. I've been thinking about hosting a ride, but I'm not really any closer than you guys in the Cities.

You guys should consider an organized ride during the Wildcat Mountain Rally in September.  I rode with the XS650 guys last year and it was a great time.  It's in that exact area.

Here we are all lined up for a group photo:  http://rokklym.smugmug.com/Photography/Wildcat-Mountain-Rally-2009/9566582_XxqRo#643636230_Z6WKj

Lots of attentions to group rides where everyone is on the same type steed.

jfinnan, that's a great picture with the line up of bikes.   The Wildcat mountain route was over too quickly... so much fun.
Yeah, Randy we'll have to get something organized for a ride in that area.  It seems like the possibilities are endless around there.
