I just get them on eBay. The last time, I purchased 3 of them, and I think I paid like $15 shipped.

In Moscow - HiFlo- HF111 for 6,5-7$. Air.... I think buy on ebay K&N - it is better here (70$ K&N, 50$ - original (30-40 days order) and no non-original for 650!)

Depends on how close or far away you are from a dealer. I bought a whole saddlebag full of them two years ago and I still have 5 left. I change my oil when ever I feel like it. But auto parts dealers should be able to order/stock them. Some walmarts have them and the options go on.

Good question, figured i'd go th the local Honda shop, pricey i'll bet, never thought about trying the napa or Wall Mart. Going to investigate because i need em all. (new owner GL650I)
I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it

I buy original Honda oil filters from my local Honda dealers at about $7 bucks. All of the store bought filters I see in my area are Frams and I'd reuse an old Honda filter before using a new Fram filter.

I'd like to find a source for Purolator filters. I bouught the last 2 from Amazon that they listed. They no longer offer that filter. Woody's auto parts from Mass supposedly has them for about $4.50 each but I could not get the link to order them to work.
They seem to be the best filter out there. Both o-rings are included as well as the gaskets fitting tightly.

The Wix I get from O'reilly's include both O-rings. I would never put a oil filter fram on anything.

The purolator website says they should be available at a lot of places.

I"ll check a few of those locations, but Advance had them listed as available on special order with none in stock in any warehouse. AND they were something like $16 each. Same with Woodys but their price is about $4.50 with a 'jobber' price under $4.
I think that we should be able to do a group buy of say 100 filters (or more) and get a great price on a great filter. They could then be redistributed in groups of 5 with shipping and a tip included to cover the persons time and financial outlay. Perhaps $6/filter delivered in groups of 5.??
From...http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/FilterStudy.aspx
This is how an oil filter should be made. The anti-drainback valve is double the
thickness of any other here, and obviously seals very well. The media
is the best available, and there's a lot of it. The bypass valve is made
from a laser-cut piece of stainless steel, and just can't bind or jam.
This was for a modern Suzuki with anti-drain-back valve.
Here is what they said about the super-tech ..walmart... filter.
A better than average filter at a bargain price.
So it would seem that if Walmart carries a filter for the cx500's that it would be a better filter than fram and about half the others and for about $2-$3.

Jobber price on the Purolator filter from Woody's is $3.91 plus $25 special order price plus $50 shipping. Works out to $4.66 shipped to a common locaton. Add shipping and some time reimbursement and it may add up to about $7 per filter delievered in groups of 5. I think they are a superior filter, but I dont' know if people would be willing to pay that amount. I think I would since it would only be $3 more than the cheaper versions every few months or once a year.
I dont' think I'm interested in organizing a group buy though. Someone else may take the helm on this if there is enough interest.

Nice thing about our oil filter is, we can see them before we put them in. There is no anti-drainback valve in our filters (I believe it is in the bolt) and you can see if they chintz out on the filter media.
The cutaway of the automobile Fram filter is somewhere else online and is even more disturbing. (cardboard endcaps.)

Check out this place.
Another thread on this forum directed me there and it looks interesting.
2 changes a year looks like a 3 or 4 year payback as well as better filtration.

Nice idea provided the flow rate is comparable. I'd consider one if I wasn't so tight on money lately.

Flow is fine, and the filtering is actually better (35 micron vs around 75 for paper). Here's the thread on it:
http://choppercharles.com/cs/forums/204764/ShowPost.aspx
I like it because I do frequent oil changes most times (city riding), and don't have to guess as to whether the filter needs changing or not. Haven't changed the oil since getting this, but will post to the original thread on how the first cleaning goes.

I have had excellent service for tires, clothing and consumables like filters from Motorcycle Superstore.
They have listing for K & N, Vesrah, Emgo and HiFlo for the CX models.
