Any WNC CX-500 Owners? NEED SOME HELP!!!
|
|
|
|
|
I bought a CX500 from Daniel on this forum, not sure what his name is here. He recommended I check this place out for tips/help on the CX. Here's the problem: My bike isn't getting fire to the spark plugs. Daniel came over and checked it out, performed some tests and determined it's most likely the CDI. My question is, will someone around Western NC let me try their CDI on my bike before I drop 150-200+$ on one? I'd be eternally grateful for any help!

Several people lately have gotten out of the game so I cant place the name but you might want to check out the ignitech cdi replacement instead of a ebay unit. Every once in a while we have group buys that save incredible amounts of money.
Can you put your location in your profile and bike type in the signature line.

Any retailers you can suggest for the ignitech cdi? Do they improve performance or have any issues? For some reason the search on this forum doesn't work for me.

Here are some details.
http://choppercharles.com/cs/forums/204849/ShowPost.aspx
These things are sold in the Czech Republic and have a two year warranty. They are plug and play and if your stator is having winding problems but has a fine charging circuit then it will easily keep the bike running. It is programmable but perfect right out of the box.

Any recommendations on a vendor? I'm seeing that none are available here anymore.. I need to get one within a reasonably short period of time.

Email them and ask for an invoice for a (CX500) Sparker DC-CDI-P2 CDI unit.
They will send you and invoice in Euros by return mail. You can then PayPal them the funds, and PayPal does the currency exchange etc.
I'm thinking of changing the way I do the group buys, buying them, floating them on plastic, offering them up to listers here, any that go unsold here put up on FleaBay near list. This last group buy was a bit of a cluster fudge with as many dropping out as getting units and took much more time to handle than the other buys.
No guarantees and it'll probably happen after Euroland collective vacation is over (going to finish the current GB first), so you might just bite the bullet and get one at full price if you can't dig up a cheap used CDI to use in the meantime.

Are you sure there is no spark from the coils? Have you tried checking for spark with the caps removed from the wires by holding the end of the wire 1/8 inch from a ground ( with insulated pliers!)? The caps could be bad.

I like this idea. The only problem that sucks is the price to do it. Assuming you could buy 20 units that's just over $3,000 depending on how the currency weights.

Yeah, neither side is firing. Cobram - sounds like a good idea to me. Seems like people are looking for them pretty regularly so you could probably turn a decent profit with the unsold ones.

Good comment by Mr Softie. BTW, you did check to make sure the handlebar ignition kill switch was on run?

Using plastic (credit card) on the right day in the billing cycle via PayPal can get you a float of about a month, probably enough time to turn them around.

Do you know if Danial tested the stator output? The CDI gets power from the stator.
