My new motorcycle.

I mentioned in the selling section that I bought a BMW.
Don said he'd like to see a picture of it.
Here is the Craig's List pic:

It's an 1993 K75RT.  There was some minor fallen-over damage which brought the price down to where I could reach it.

It's a very similar bike to my GL650i but different.  So different that I almost walked away from it.  It has more of a sport tourer feel but doesn't lean me forward so much as most sport tourers.  It also feels more cramped, especially in the legs.  My knees are right up against the fairing which takes some getting used to.  This does give it a more of a tucked-in feel.  It also sits up taller than the Silverwing.  I am not flat footed now at stops, partly because of the nice custom seat on the bike.  Truthfully, the only reason I bought it is because it is 10 years newer... and I will admit, the BMW mystique also played into the decision

It's fast and nimble and going to be a nice motorcycle for me, I think.

What kind of mileage does that 17 year old have on it.

It wasn't what I was picturing you with either but it looks good and I'm sure you will learn to love it.

To me there are only two kinds of bmw's. The new ones that look more like sports bikes and the ones that look like bikes.

I was picturing something like this.

Wayne,
From what I have read that 3 cylinder BMW is one of the most reliable of the BMW's but it is more maintenance intensive than the Silverwing. It is also supposed to be smother than the 4 cylinder due to the way the crankshaft is configured. Good luck with it. BillRod

Never worry about theory as long as the machinery does what it is supposed to do.

Can't say that's its a huge difference. Both bikes have enough power to scare me plenty good.
I haven't put a lot of miles on the BMW yet but I noticed that I am speeding a lot more and sooner than before. But I think the speedo may be reading fast.... at least that's what I'll tell the officer!

Wayne, great on the new bike! Please don't do what I did after buying the ST & sell your 650, as I sold my 500. I am so glad I have the 650 to flit around on! I do love my hack but it is a whole nother world. I owned an R-50 many years ago (for a short time) & I liked the Bemer, I just don't always like some of the folks who ride them. I think you will find it a consensus of opinion on this board that a fellow should have more than one bike to ride. Look at DonS in Melbourne, at any given time he has 15 to 18 bikes, he is trying to reduce his inventory (without much success I think). Of course the reduction is being made so he can buy yet another twisted twin!

Gene, good idea. Can I give you my wife's number so you can convince her?
Appreciate it.
