What does the air filter look like and how are the carbs?  Has it always acted like this.

Carbs are only about a year or so old, the air filter looks clean , even tried it without the air cleaner in it. it has always done this since ive owned the bike

Hi Dom
Wont rev up? can you be more specific?
I assume it starts, so what happens when you open the throttle?
does it start pick up then backfire and go all wonky for instance ?

I had a CX brought to me like that, it was a failing CDI box
I see you did stator checks did you do a CDI output test?
I posted the method here a while ago

Try that and if it all checks out OK, I'd suspect a fuel related problem
sticky carbs pistons, blocked jets, filters etc that sort of thing

It will begin to rev , if you baby it it will rev up about half way , if you wrap the throttle it just chockes up. It starts and idels just fine , checked the fuel filter and fuel lines and petcock and all are good. Ill try and get some audio and maybe even video of it if I can find someone with the tech.
