Recommended windshield?

There was a thread on these a while back, mentioning several, their advantages, disadvantages etc but I can't seem to find the thread anymore.

The one I remember was slightly tinted, came in a couple of sizes and the mounting was wel thought out as far as adjustment was concerned.

It will be (eventually) going on a 1979 CX500 Custom that's pretty much put back to full stock condition thanks to a friend's help.

CXOkie has been working on it and one of the many things he's already completed is putting the stock exhaust back on.

Some of you may recall that I had to send all the way to the U.K. to find an exact repro set of silencers for the Custom - they're a little shorter and the bell ends are larger than the regular or Deluxe CX.

He says it's the first time he's ever heard one with a stock exhaust and it really surprised him, I can't wait to get out to his place (about an hour's drive) to hear it and take some pictures.

Despite all these Doctors and hospitals I'm trying to put a little away from each paycheck so I can get the tank and side panels painted, after that I've got a lot of polishing and other minor details to iron out.

I'm thinking of calling a place that refinishes furniture and let them dip the tank in their paint/varnish remover vats, that should leave me ready for light sanding and primer. Obviously the more prep work you do the less a paint shop is going to charge to shoot the color and clear on it.

It's going to be the same color as my "in storage awaiting restoration" Daytona 500 Pace car" - a color called Medium Gulf Blue Effect. (Mostly pure blue with the tiniest hint of lean towards green, also has metallic and I believe a bit of pearl in the paint. DuPont basecoat/clearcoat urethane and if I had a compressor I'd probably do it myself.

The other day I saw a brand new Harley painted in almost the identical color and it was beautiful.

I got this one for my Deluxe. The mounting hardware is great. I chose this specifically because the rake is adjustable with two easy-twist knobs.

On the subject of screens
I fitted an old screen from an MZ on the mongrel
While it keot the icy blast off my body the diverted air
was increased around my head (I'm 6'3") making riding visor up noisy and
uncomfortable
My first experiment on the right of the pic worked, but it was butt ugly even for my
ratty old bike  and I didnt like it..
It was fixed on the inside of the screen
Also at speed it caught too much air and made the bike prone to wobbling at 75+

Recently I reshaped it and fitted it on the front of the screen and used various
rubber tap washers to hold it off the screen by about 6mm bottom to 10mm top
It works just as well too !

The 'Mongrel' is on the road
78 frame, ZAB gubbins, 82 'TI' motor, Suzuki clocks, MZ screen
and gaiters, Kawasaki master cylinder, BMW horns
DIY wiring
and all thrown together with a fanatical inattention to detail :-)

I have now made heated inner gloves Reg and the small screen on my Blue CX looks good and does a pretty good job along with hand guards and I'm just recovering a seat and making it into a heated seat(Bum Warmer).

PS
I will also be making some very cheap hand warmers that can be placed on the exhaust/Heads for a couple of mins and then held in the hand to warm up the hands

Well I am too looking for a little better windshield than what I have currently. Our fellow member Malcoop has the fairing that I think I want. Trouble is I can't find one like it.

No.I bought a pair of cheap Blue LED spots so used one on each of my CX.Since fitting them I have noticed that more car drivers are noticing me.I reckon it's a subconscious effect e.g they think,"Police" because of the Blue light. As you know as Motorcycle riders we are virtually invisible and car drivers are used to seeing white headlights.I think the added blue draws their attention, even if it's only a split second of curiosity and that's enough.

The National Cycle one is along the line of what I'm looking for provided it will adjust enough to keep the wind above my eye level.

There was another one mentioned somewhere in a different thread I still haven't found, if I recall it came in a small and large size although the difference was only about an inch in width and height.

It too had a similar mounting and adjustment method mentioned.
