As I look through the posts and see all the bikes here. I started thinking what do you all use to clean your engines? I would like to make mine look better. This winter I will pull it and polish a few things that need it but as for the engine it self I want tit to look good.

DO NOT use regular engine cleaner for cars, use a citrus based cleaner. You will probably find it at any auto parts store without an issue, but make sure it's citrus based. Regular foaming engine degreasers and such can cause damage to the rubber parts and sometimes the finish on these old bikes.

Simple Green, full strength, works well too. Just spray on with a spray bottle (extra heavy gunk will take multiple applications) and let it soak for a few minutes, then hos it off.

Do NOT use carb cleaner on the engine as it will strip the paint.

Depends on the carb cleaner. I have a friend in chicago who said they just passed a law in illinois that lowered the strength of the carb cleaner they get. Not sure if it's due to ingredients or what but he doesn't like it. Or he could have been feeding me crap.

Oh no, it's true, they did it to us here too. It's safer for the environment or something...
