Grease Nipples on brake caliper?
Reply Quote
As a new owner, I'm just learning about this bike. It appears there are grease nipples on the brake calipers. Are they? If so, what grade of grease would you use? How much?

Those are not grease nipples, they are bleeders. DO NOT put grease in them!!!!

As a habit I do pack them with grease to prevent corrosion. They are not grease fittings. They are air bleed fittings used for removing air from your hydraulic brake system.
Enjoy your new bike!

Brake bleeders are used to bleed air from the brake system. Notice that they are located on the upper side of the caliper. While holding pressure on the brake lever loosen the bleeder about 1/4 turn to bleed any air that has accumulated and tighten bleeder back up prior to releasing lever.
I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it

They do resemble grease fittings, so it's a good thing they will not "take" any grease under normal conditions. Otherwise, I'm sure over the years many would have been filled up!
