Look for a used shock unit in working condition.

Here's an interesting thing I learned & maybe someone out there has some info on this.
I contacted Elka suspensions & they have a unit that would work.part#E46R.When I Google this number it comes up for a KLR.Wonder if mono from one of these would work

Somebody posted recently about fix-a-flat being a successful, not sure about long term, repair...... at your own risk of course if a seal cannot be found.

I can't help but to agree that with all thbikes being made with monoshocks nowadays a reasonable close if not perfect fit should be findable.

Instead of driving all over perhaps taking it off, then a multitude of pictures and some hand drawn ones with every measurement you can easily decipher e-mailed to the various online parts providers might get someone to go searching their stock and finding a match.

I'd start by wrting to Elka for detailed engineering drawings on that one you found.

If you can find one and it works let's get it in the FAQ.

One of our members from South Africa emailed me last year with info on the seal ,  hope it is of some help

"The seal specs are as follows: 88 x 65 x 10.5mm. It needs to be a double-lipped & double-acting type of seal (sliding type).

You cannot use a single acting, feathered lip type of seal (rotary type) as it will not be able to withstand the hydraulic pressure inside the shock.

I hope this is of some help to you. I can vouch for these sizes as I have done the seal replacement on my GL500 before, including using the wrong type of seal on my first attempt! "
