The fleabay search shows those tanks as a lot more expensive than even harley tanks. I'm bidding on one though...

Is that black duct tape on the seat. It definetly beats the gray I was using for the first year.

For $8 a roll does it come with vaseline? Must be some pretty good stuff. I use the gorilla glue but don't completely like the foaming part. Wonder if Jb weld has their own line of duct tape too.

Been browsing this board for a while. Enjoying all the cx and gl's. I owned a 80 custom about 3 years ago, sold it to pursue some other wants (wish I hadn't done that) and decided to purchase another one. There is something about these motors that just is fun.
After weeks spent browsing craigslist this bike came up, 1981 silverwing, hasn't been run in 18 years. Previous owner says bike was running when parked ( unfortunately I think he parked it in a swamp), I've decided to fully dissamble the bike before riding it, better safe than sorry. $200 bucks canadian with regi papers. Figured I'd do a timing chain, mechanical seal while engine is out, any other suggestions?

Was parked under the previous owners porch for the last 18 years. I hit it with a power washer when I got it home and the custom green came right off. I must have doubled the value of the bike. It rests in my garage right now, mostly dissambled. I'm gonna have to fix a hole in the left saddle bag and a small scuff on the fairing.
First thing is to pop the heads off and see if the cylinders are okay.

Holy white and black. Think anyone is going to know it's a CX500. I only have the engine and fork honda emblems on my bike and it keeps people guessing what it is.

Thats the well sought after Harley Dyna Wide-Glide seat off a 1996-2002. It's a direct replacement with a few slight modifications. I think I spend a few hours playing with it to get everything right.
Heres the kicker. I got the seat on ebay and after shipping it only cost $60.
Modification inspired by Natrick and his Hondian or how ever he spelt that. If you like mine you should check his out.

That looks great, Blindstitch. The backrest and saddlebags really add a lot. Is the graphic a decal you clear coated on?

Awesome bike cataclism, Im not very good at identifying years and such.. so what year is that bike? What all did you to do it?
Also, did anyone save pictures from the gorgeous yellow bike that blindstitch put up? I went back to show my g/f and the link is down... If anyone saved it, i'd love to get them put up on my server or somewhere for our viewing pleasure!

Yep. Simplest way to do it. Besides I couldn't freehand a brush or airbrush and draw anything decent. It was kind of easy to do that way because the graphic is shaped like a cross so it's easier to lay down each direction without causing wrinkles or bubbles. I did my brothers with a 4 inch tall 8 inch long graphic and it was really hard to get it wrinkle free. My brother likes the way it looks so I'm fine with that.
MoCX500 Looks like the link is down to the german forum. I cant read anything over there so maybe it will come back later. I was going to put them in my flickr but it was easier to just drag them over.

CaTacL1sm, It looks like you still have the original custom foot pegs on? With the club bars, you might like the deluxe/standard pegs a little better, they sit up and back a little more than the custom's controls.

I really like the way your bike is turning out. Especially that seat. The brown ostrich leather on that cowl looks really good. You don't see brown leather seats on cafe's very often. BTW, don't encourage that idiot, prob. just some 15 yr old virgin who can't ride a motorcycle anyway. Takes someone like that to make a cheap shot without signing in first....

Blindstitch2002,
Is that the stock front wheel or am I completely blind?
it looks like you turned the spokes over and paineted them..

It's a stock front wheel. It's my spare turned primary. I needed a spare so I didn't mis a minute of riding so i picked up the 78 front wheel off ebay in good condition with a wheel that had 90 percent tread for $30.
I got sick of the silver color in about 30 minutes so I hit it with some primer. Now the question is weather to put a good tire on the old one and swap them out or clean up the other set of 78 rims I have and put a good tire on that.

Blindstitch's CX has the very first CX500A front wheel, the Comstar. After that, they changed to Reverse Comstars.
Love the sissy bar and seat, Stitch.

This is the 1980 cx I got from my buddys backyard about two months ago. It's running great now but I'm looking to change up the intake to some pods and get more power and volume with a new exhaust setup. The pics are from how I got it to how it is now. It still needs paint.

"post your ride" or rides.....
I don't own a cx anymore, but still enjoy the forum so i'm going to post anyway!

my new addition was this 83 yamaha xs650. it was a basket case but i hardtailed the frame and did this and that, jockey shift and foot clutch. Its getting pretty close to done, then i just have to get a title for it. (small oversight!)

this one is going to be in a magazine soon. this is my daily ride...

Pampadori, I absolutely love your taste in motorcycle style. The red cafe was one of the best CX cafe builds I've seen, and the others are great as well. I'm stoked you still pay attention to us. The white cafe is great, very retro and classy. The tail light in the cowl is great. I've had my eye on xs650 choppers for a while, hoping to do a chopper build with one of those or a cb750 this winter. Very cool.
