Attaching images - UPDATED
|
|
|
|
|
To add images to a post - a reminder / summary:
Images must be up on the net somewhere so get yourself a freebie image hosting
account (Flickr, Photobucket etc) and put your images in there. Then when
writing your post, you plop your image or image address into the text box
along with the text. You can usually drag and drop an image from
another open window (may not always work) or copy and paste the image
address from the open image at your image host (using Flickr, I open
the desired image. then right click> properties >copy properties
line (this is image address) >paste into text box.
Two
things to consider - If you move or delete the image at your image host
AFTER you have pasted it into a post here, the post will then show a
'dead link' instead of the image. Also, for images not specific to you
or your stuff, you can snag them from anywhere on the net and not have
to stick them into your hosting service account. This is nice - let
someone else host the darn thing - like this>

This image was dragged over (Firefox not Microshaft) from someone else's host and can be clicked, sending you back to their site for more info etc...the one catch, you have no control over the image and it could move or disappear at any time.
EDIT: Something to pay attention to went dragging images into the text box; You might find that the cursor moves around in the text box as you are dragging the image over, which might cause the image to be inserted in the middle of your text, right where you probably don't want the image to appear. You can see this a few posts down in Wisconsin CX's image test post, the image landed in mid-sentence. An easy way to avoid this is to press enter several times to put some open space under the last text line, then drag the image over and drop it into the open area. Then you can add more text below the image if you wish.

This is more so linking images than attaching them. Attaching them would be storing a copy of ChopperCharles server, and thats not what we are discussing here. Just clarifying to prevent any future confusion.
For linking images, I've always used the code,
[ img ]address image is located at[ /img ]
just take out the spaces between img and the brackets (had to put it in, or else it thought it was a link)
You would add the text which appears in red belowaround the image location...

Never tried the dragging thing, I'll have to try that sometime! Thanks for the tip!

That works fine also, just too tedious for my lazy arse so I try to take the easy route - click and drag

I added an EDIT to my initial post to expand on the drag and drop image transfer. WiCX, not busting on you, I just noticed in your test post, the one annoying thing about the drag/drop, so please don't edit your post to correct, it is serving as an example

I opened up a photobucket account. I uploaded images to the account. Now I am trying to get the image to Chopper Charles. The image will be used for my I.D. I can't seem to get it here. I am using both I.E. and Google Chrome. Do I have to switch to firefox to make this happen?

IE sucks. But the bike is nice and red and I want one of the right fork lowers. Your clutch cable is routed wrong. It goes under a lip on the radiator trim piece and that quarter size mounting cover. Then straight up with the tank over it. I had one routed weird and it kept burning on the header.

Thanks for the nice comments and the Eagle eye on the clutch cable! I will fix that soon as the engine is coming out.
