Same line, but different question: Will a 78 CX500 tach have the correct ratio for an 83 CX650? my 650 tach died and I have a 78 on the table...

Really. I didn't see it. I let a 0-85 with 14,000 miles on it go the other day for $10 plus shipping because I figured that person probably needed it more than I did.
At one time I was going to build a lamp out of the speedos. I had a real crazy design where the on off switch was a trip knob. It was kind of bug eyed but then I moved and lost the 4 broken bodies I had.
I'm still trying to get use to only seeing up to 85mph. It's just not fair. I think the 0-120 matches the looks of the tach better since 60mph is straight up like 6,000 rpms.

200mph. That's got to be what 300kph. Now that's fast. Watch out moose in ontario are every 3k according to the night danger signs.
I wonder how hard it would be to adapt a speedo from a aircraft. Now that would be fast. All you would hear is booooooom. Seconds after you saw the tiny speck of my bike fly by.

Those signs only indicate where the moose are allowed to cross. Keep in mind, some of them don't know how to read.

I still have the stock gauges for now. The bike has however ate its share of speedometers. I'm on number 6. Number 5 works fine but didn't have a tripmeter. Speedo ratio is 2240=60mph. tach ratio is 1:4. I have a spare speedometer sitting in the kitchen just incase the worst happens but the one on the bike seems to be going great.

I spent a couple of hours researching this before I headed off to the wreckers to find new instruments for the winter bike.
All four big Japanese bike makers use this speedo ratio:
2240 RPM = 60 MPH
2330 RPM = 100 Km/h
Honda & Yamaha both use 1:4 tachometer ratio most of teh time, but some older Hondas have a different ratio (1:5 or 1:7 I think)
