I know this has been posted before but I can't seem to find it. I think blindstitch wrote a mini howto on hot wiring your bike.

thanks

Oh yeah so your going to trust me on this.

I'm a trial and error person and have done it several times but it always seems to confuse me when trying to explain it to people. I really need to take a good picture the next time I see my maggot as it doesn't have an ignition switch with it. I have a spare at the apartment ready for it.

From what I remember it was connect the red to black wires gets power and brown to brown gets lights.  I cant seem to find the ignition switch diagram at this point but there are only 6 posts that could be jumped. It looks like 1 to 2 and 4 to 6 if you can picture that. But if you flip it around it's all shenanigans.

My friend Jerry told me not to keep the lights jumped when off as it will continue to drain the battery.

Ok so i'm updating this. I just found a horrible cellphone picture of my bike hotwired. I may take another since I have 3 wiring harnesses in the house and a better image would be nice but this is what I have.

Ok so top wire connects 1 to 2 and bottom connects 4 to 6.

I have done this in a pinch when I absolutely only had to (dead starter, ect).

I get a long, fat flat head with a good thick handle. Bridge the gap on the starter relay with it (two screw leads),(current bypasses the starter) and engine turns over.

I DO NOT advise doing this unless you have to. Info for intellectual curiosity only.

These are the colors.

RED - Supply from main fuse
GREEN - Earth/Ground via loom
BLACK - Supply out when ignition is switched on
BLACK/WHITE - Connected to ground when ignition is switched off.
Linked to killswitch which does the same job. Stopping engine
BROWN and BROWN/WHITE -lights/parking lights

Idea [I] Re: just in case

Hi,
I just bought a 1979 cx500 deluxe with 175,000 km. The bike runs once started, but after I ride and use the flashers it won't start again. The battery dies but it starts with a boost. When the flashers are on the neutral light dims quite a bit with every flash and the battery goes dead.
ANY IDEAS??
