How to post pictures here

If you are new here, in a hurry to get a photo up, and don’t want to learn how yet, you can ask for someone to post for you, then email the image to the them, and they can post for you. - If it is already uploaded and you have a link, you can simply post the link in text form and we can copy and paste it and/or post it for you. - We like pictures.
If you want learn how to post your own:
1. First you need FireFox web browser (It is a 7MB download). And well worth it.
Other browsers may work, especially with other operating systems. [Others are invited to chime in here]. IE7 does not work with Chopper Charles (CC) web site. - With IE7, you will not be able to post pictures, links, or smiles.
2. Then you need to upload to a site that hosts pictures. PhotoBucket (you have to join) has been popular but it is slow. ImageNerd is fast, has thumbnails, and you don’t have to join if you don’t want to. - Any site will do.
3. Then you need to post it. I used to copy the direct link, paste it in a new browser window, and drag it from that window to my post. That require two visible windows open. Now with ImageNerd I just copy and paste the BBCode of the direct link (if properly sized) or the BBCode for the thumbnail (if it is too large).
I haven’t tried it, Edit: What this guy said:
wildmanwill wrote: | For linking images, I've always used the code,

Just take out the spaces between img and the brackets (had to put it in, or else it thought it was a link)

You’re done. Enjoy. We will too!
Size matters, and bigger is not better. lol - It drives me nuts; when I have to scroll horizontally to read each line of text in a thread, because someone posted an image or link that is way too wide. Please STOP doing this! (Yea, I mean all of you, old and new). You really need to re-size the dimensions to be no wider than 700 pixels, or you need to post a thumbnail link, or just a link. Thank you all very much!
Parts fiche photos are GIF files. These are a special case. They are hard, for me to re-dimension. Maybe because I use 1996 PhotoImpact as my photo-editor. – (I have to convert the 'black and white' GIF image to color, and save it as a JPEG to be able to re-size it correctly). With ImageNerd, I just post the thumbnail. *I need to double check this*.
If you post more than 3-4 images in a thread or post, it would be considerate to use thumbnails. As some dial-up members will time-out before 1/2 of all of the pictures will load. [I use unlimited dial-up because it is free - to me, ask me how].
BTW, I have never seen a picture here that I didn’t like. WE LIKE PICTURES! Please contribute!
Final note: I love FireFox and it is my primary browser. However, not all web sites work with it. Sometimes, it is not easy to tell that it did not work. That can be very confusing. Here is one easy example: al lambs dallas honda Note that the image shows but not the parts list. - - Is that due to a Flash software thing??? Maybe a FireFox setting??? It shows fine using IE.

Thanks for telling, I haven´t thought about that - dial-up connections and their slow speed. Although I was on dial-up myself, several years ago, and was annoyed over large pictures.
I´ll remove my pictures from Photobucket right now - I know most of them are large. I have no time fiddling with resizing them today - I have a car that stopped on me yesterday, parked at the other side of town, so must try to wake that one up now. And we had some snow, last night. Lovely!!

Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) can resize them for you easily singly or in large groups. Just open the program up into your "My Pictures" folder, select the photos singly (or hold down the control key to select multiple shots at one time... or control-A to select everything in the folder).
Right click your selection(s), choose Resize Photos, then select Small. It will create new smaller copies of your originals with the same name (small) attached. Your originals stay large. You will just have copies now that should fit on anybody's screen without having to scroll.
PS - I just tried your imagenerd suggestion in the test forum and found it works perfectly and just couldn't be easier. Thanks for clearing up what had been a major annoyance.

I´m running Firefox and I tried al lambs dallas honda. Got the picture + the parts list. Don´t know why! The only thing I can remember having ever done was adjusting a little something with cookes (I think) when I installed Firefox. I´m rather dumb with these things, although I earlier worked with main-frame computers. Lost interest completely.

Photobucket also can give you a thumbnail to post. Thumbnails are nice in that those with dial-up don't have to wait for loading, but it still gives you the option to have those interested look at a large image by clicking. Below is a Photobucket thumbnail and if you click on it it will give you a larger image.
Phil I thank you for taking me to the location for this JPEG ... that probably isn't fog in the background, but rather burning earth in PA.

jayhanig,
Thanks for posting the XP power toy. I will be telling everyone I know about it! http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe In my duplicate post, you mentioned that you could post pictures in IE6. How does one get IE6 these days? Also, does it allow links and smiles to?
(PS I saw your picture OUCH! - - Love the T-shirt! - Hope I never need one. lol)
Sture, Thanks for the Al Lambs info, I will look into making it work. I'm thinking that it has something to do with Flash or Java. Please do not remove your pictures, I will just keep refreshing till they load. I am a patient sort of guy.
R80Dave, I never used anything but the direct link at PhotoBucket. Did you use the 'email and IM' code to get the thumbnail?
Stitch, Thanks for including it. - Instead of posting this thread twice, I intended to post a nomination to your Quick Reference thread. lol - I guess I will have to start over on that.
So no one cares to know how to give or get free dial-up? And I thought we had some cheap-bastards here. - Email or PM will be required, as I don't want to post it for all to see.

Rusty,
If you put your pointer over the photo on Photobucket a menu pops up that includes a thumbnail option that includes thumbnail. To copy the link you have to click on the words "IMP Thumb" which will highlight the link. Then you copy that link and use it.
The way I use it is to paste the link where I want it and then highlight it and then use the create link button. All done.
Not the easiest steps in the world, but it works great.

Alas, I can't get IE6 any more. Once I "upgraded", I was screwed. I've also lost Outlook Express due to a corruption of some sort and had to switch to Windows Live Mail.... which also has its problems.

Rusty, it was me who posted using IE 6 and ImageNerd. I have a love/hate relationship with Microsoft products, we all need to use them but the problems are a pita. When they came out with IE 7 I tried it and went back to IE 6, I am using XP Pro and before ServicePack 3 you could uninstall IE 7 and revert back to 6 using Add/Remove programs, if you have Service Pack 3 you have to follow Microsucks instructions to remove 7. This links explains it
